What is that weird converter in the top right corner for?
Let's you play NES carts on the Famicom
It's to play NES games on a Famicom. I'm tired of dealing with my toaster and don't wanna bother with the av mod on my NES2 so I'm on the hunt for a nice Sharp Twin Turbo and I'll still be able to play my US games with that converter.Quote:

Yeah, but the pins will bend on them as well. If you insist on using the original front loader NES, take it apart, remove the 72-pin connector, clean it, then take a very small screwdriver(the kind for fixing eyeglasses), and bend the pins back to their original shape, then put it back together. Then, from now on, when you use your NES, don't ever push the games down, as that's a design flaw, and will just bend your pins again. Also remember to keep your cartridges clean, and it also wouldn't hurt to break off pin 4 of the 10NES chip, which will disable lockout for some unlicensed games, and will also get rid of the blinking blue screen.Quote:

You say you have the "Turbo" model. Is that the one with longer controller cords? Because, just to let everyone know, I own a regular Sharp Twin Famicom(Black, with burgundy stripe), and the controller cords are not only very short, but are hardwired to the console, so if you purchase the model I have, you'll either have to have your console close to you, or be close to your TV, but that's the only real gripe. Mine still works fine, including the disk system. The only other problem I can think of, is that the AC jack is only soldered on with ONE solder point, so if you accidentally bump into the AC cord, or sometimes touch the top of the console when it's on, the console may reset/power off, but I'm told that if you're handy with a soldering iron, it's an easy fix.Quote:

Yeah, there was a video I found a while ago that actually showed what needed to be done instead of that hard to understand FAQ and I got the pins working great on my second NES that I use for beating around. Seems to hold up well but still gets finicky every once and awhile. I actually just got a lot of old connectors and was going to try and fashion something that has solid connector (the one for the board connection) on each end, then there should be no issues again!Quote:

For 10 bux, I couldn't pass it up (though some might think I overpaid :p). I'd kind of like to get a GORF boardset for it, but I'm toying with the idea of dropping a PC in and using it to play vector games...we'll see. I've got two other cabinets which need to be wrapped up before I do anything with this one.
