Since I have no desire to own a Neo Geo, but I have a great desire to own Viewpoint. It came out on the Saturn, Playstation and Genesis. I have heard great things about the Neo Geo, nothing but horrible things about the playstation (which I assume is probably exactly like the saturn version) and nothing about the Genesis version, any ideas?
Unfortunately, both the Playstation and Genesis ports kind of suck. The Genesis port would be great if it didn't have such horrible slowdown. The Playstation version has less slowdown (but still its share), but is pretty lame in general. I've never seen the Saturn version, nor do I know anything about it.
There was a Neo Geo CD version, which I haven't played, but I would imagine it's faithful...
I heard that the Neo Geo version is fairly close to the arcade. This was probably due to the fact that the Neo Geo had near-arcade quality graphics.
Viewpoint was made for the Neo-Geo MVS originally. The AES version is perfect of course (but expensive). The Neo-Geo CD version is just about perfect except the boss BGM there's some "cracking" noise which wasn't present in the MVS/AES version. Other than that the CD version is perfect (and cheap).
The Genesis, 32-bit versions, and the X68000 ports (don't know about the FM Towns Marty port) are outdated and shouldn't be played at all. Stick to the Neo-Geo for Viewpoint.
I didn't know that any version of Viewpoint was good.

Well, I've just preferred the Saturn version of every game that came out on Playstation, period. Firstly, I get a MUCH better controller with the Saturn but I've noticed that the Saturn games have better music, more extras etc.
Though I'm still bitter Heart of Darkness didn't come out on the Saturn like it was 'sposed to.
Examples:
Mega Man 8: MUCH better soundtrack than PS, animated cutscenes, more power ups, better/ more fluid animation, better sound. This was supposed to be a Saturn exclusive, but Sony bitched to Capcom and said it wouldn't be fair if Sega got this as an exclusive...F them!
Rayman: cool effects during load times, better sound
The rest of my gripes are mostly with the controls...I CANT STAND the playstation controller, PERIOD.
Saturn had better exclusives too, Mr. Bones, Sonic Games, Nights, Astal...I don't like any of the Crash Bandicoot games...
