Metropolis Zone: worst thing about any (16-bit) Sonic game. Why the starfish? In fact, why all the badniks in that level? And mostly (this is the big one) Why did they need to add the extra act? They didn't! :mad:
(I quite enjoy squashing Tails underneath the cogs, though.)
Labyrinth Zone: boring. I find the jangly music mocking. Some underwater bits are horrible to get through, and the boss is entirely pointless.
Also (just to make my post even longer) I should mention that I've always been disappointed with S&K's Hidden Palace Zone. I mean, I'd been waiting for ages to actually see it in a game, & it's over so quickly - yes, it's important plot-wise, and fighting Knuckles was sort of cool, but... the S2 original was a proper zone. Shame they never finished it.
