I mean, it's not like they had to reverse engineer the Genesis or anything. They knew exactly how it worked and what needed to be emulated. I know the DC isn't the fastest of all systems, but it definitely has enough power to suitably emulate all of the Genesis' power.
I heard/read that the "Smash Pack" emulator was derived from a Japanese Mega Drive emulator for Dreamcast, in which there was this service available in which you could download and play Mega Drive and PC Engine titles. A good seven or so years before the Wii's "Virtual Console". "Ghouls 'N Ghosts" was one of those games.

The Gens emulator does a good job of emulating the sound.
when you see the YM2612 info to programmers the Sega gave to developers you'll see that even they didn't know anything about the chip.
Hearing the horrible sound in SOR2 in the Smash Pack made me lose faith in humanity, renounce God, and pray for the world to end.
That was the worst and most embarrasing port of Genesis games for a Sega system. It was one of the reasons for Sega's downfall and the death of the Dreamcast.
I suspect that the developers' focus was on getting the games on the disc in a functional state, rather than absolute accuracy.Quote:

I have gens and it is buggy. Most of the games will play ok but often sprites are just not there. It hard to play Shinobi when Joe is gone. The sound is fine at least.
