Are there any?
I got U.N. Squadron and that game would be good except the slow down makes me want to throw my SNES out the window.

Thunder Spirits might be good.... not as good as MD original (TF !!!) though.... and it does slowdown too
R-Type III.....Super R-Type is slowdown-o-rama, but R-Type III was nice afair....
I've not played it myself, but Axelay is supposed to be very good.
Axelay, SPACE MEGAFORCE (do try this, it's said to be one of the best around), R-Type III and if you got the dough, on the SFC side, there's Rendering Ranger R2 (half shooter, half Contra type game) that is fuggin' impressive! It set me back $90 (used from my TAROMARU $140 balance). Click the link to check out a review I wrote of the game

If you ever played Thunder Force III on the Genesis/Mega Drive, I recommend you to not even lay eyes on Thunder Spirits. Gradius III seems to be very attractive too, but it plays as if it were in permanent slowdown (actually the worst I've ever seen in a shmup).
Gradius lll.
BTW, does Macross have any slowdown?Quote:

Darius Twin, Darius Force, Parodius, Pop'n Twin Bee are the ones that come to mind (other than those already mentioned). The SNES has quite a few excellent shmups, although it's nothing compared to the MD/G.
Space Megaforce is the only SNES shooter I completely approve of. Axelay is alright. Darius, Parodius, and Twinbee are available in much better form on Saturn.
Pop'N Twinbee was surprisingly fun, and Phalanx springs to mind, although more for the boxart than anything else, heh.
U.N. Squadron was voted BEST SHOOTER EVAR by Gametrailer's Handsome Greg and Little Tom, I think.
Rendering Ranger looks very good. Was it Japan only?
The only SNES shmups I own are Parodius, and Pop & Twinbee - fun! There should be more 2 player shmups :<
