Couldn't bring myself to actually own a system with the Nintendo logo on it (because I'm a major annoying loser...) but I did pick up a YOBO NES clone with 6 games [the only Nintendo games I've ever really wanted that could not be had without this purchase]

Don't want any mario games...but any recs for anything else that can't be had on something else?

$15 Contra (sometimes goes for over $20, I paid $9 for mine, it varies wildly)
about $80~$90, and thats if they are all in EXCELLENT shape cart only.
If you like megaman, check out the Power Blade games.
They're the same type of game, yet grittier and more in line of what I thought would be "sega like" back when I was a kid.
Also get Batman...the nes version is the best batman game to date.

I got the yobo for $20 and everything else for just a dollar or two more than you listed. I got Castlevania for exactly $10 but I did pay $25 for contra...
Yikes, an NES clone? Most of them are pretty half-assed and none of them are as good as the original. I'm not a fan of Nintendo either but I did pick up an original NES.
Check out Destiny Of An Emperor. It's one of my favorite RPGs.
the yobo FC is pretty good, and as an added bonus the d-pad feels just like a 3-button genesis d-pad and the buttons feel somewhat close to genesis buttons. It's actually my favorite NES controller. Unfortunately, however, while the Yobo can use real NES controllers, the shape of the plug on the FC controller won't fit into a real NES (the holes for the pins are too small). It pissed me off because that's a big reason I wanted to buy the system in the first place.Quote:

I have a FC clone that has played over 200 games and all have worked flawlessly... I've not had a chance to play Castlevania 3 with it though... I have a 14 year old quality clone (or its inners in a MD2 shaped box).

Well, there's two kinds of clones: the current day inexpensive NOAC kind and the older full chipset clones of yesteryear. There were many places that Nintendo didn't market to so they only way to get an NES system was to buy a hardware clone. NOAC is approaching 100% compatibility and accuracy, however, in fact, the Castlevania III incompatibility is just because a few pins in the cartridge slot aren't wired to the NOAC (because they are pins most games don't use, much like the master system adapter for the Genesis that doesn't work with F-16). The Retro Duo wires these pins correctly and CS III works. More than anything you can call it a sloppy Famicom to NES conversion.Quote:

I have three Nintendo systems now: Gamecube, N64, "yobo"...all with only a handful of games because there are only a handful I care to play.
The ONLY reason I got the gamecube was because of Ikaruga. I don't want to sell my organs to buy the Dreamcast version (as I have gotten rid of my dreamcast) I paid like 30 bucks for the GC version. That and Dragon's Lair 3D

The n64 was a hand me down, it was totally free, as were the games I have. I have not purchased any n64 games. I see no reason to get rid of it, it was free...Jet Force Gemini is pretty rad
