Thats why I said screw it, and searched for a real SNES and bought at same price. The only Clone system I'm willing to buy is a YOBO FC NES CLONE, They're frikkin superb and durible as a tank. Best $30 I spent on a retro console, let alone a clone.

yeah, but at the same time there is almost no such thing as "mint" or "like-new" used consoles and the problems stem from years of abuse rather than lacking design specs. Clones may not have 100% compatibility, but what you do get is the reliability of all new hardware. Most of the people that complain about clones have no idea WTF they're talking about and blame the system for their own incompetence. Just yesterday the manager at Play N Trade was telling me someone returned an FC Twin because some of the games didnt work and the controls were "lagging" in the NES games. People don't seem to realize that old games are dirty 9 times out of 10, thats why they weren't working (unless they were 1 of the ~10 games that are not compatible) and as for the "laggy" NES controls, they obviously are full of shit because I have an FC Twin and that is not the case and there is no way controls could lag on that kind of hardware. The only people that should buy real hardware over clones are collectors and people with enough knowledge of electronics to properly care and clean the consoles. If you don't know anything about electronics, you are asking for an unreliable used console experience.
Now that's a very good response. I like you said, am a collector. I don't think that it's all that hard to take care and maintain old systems. The NES is an easy fix, with all cartridge based games it is imperative to keep them clean. It's not rocket surgery for Christ's sake. I guess clones will make the NES experience last longer, which is good for the new generation, but when you were raised by the NES, nothing else will do. The same goes for the Genesis, which was a great success not for the hardware, but the excellent games that came out. What's the point of great hardware if there's no good software to drive it? That is my two cents.
