Sega 32X System Buzzing, Humming, Crying Noise.....

Today while visiting my local Goodwill store, found a near new mint Sega 32X system with all of its connectors.....Got home and did some testing, worked great, every single Genesis and 32X games that I feeded into booted just fine but, there was a horrible buzzing noise.. It was loud like crazy and during the game play the screen had horrible interference ( which is pretty normal and common in all 32X systems) but in this particular revision was really bad .....I proceeded to dismantle the 32X system to see if I could find any internal problems but the motherboard was like new as if the system had been played only once or twice......So, I remembered hearing about this phenomenon before but only in certain 32X revisions, and started looking for a possible fix for this motherboard...
When I finally reached the guts, I noticed the different power inductor ,that I've seen in other 32X systems revs.. (in the pic, is the black huge capacitor looking type thingie, located at the left side of the cartridge connector, near the end of the red wire).

I removed it and installed a compatible one...(black=older, blue=NOKIN replacement)

The results were good, the noise and interference were about 90% gone after the swap......It'll be great if anyone knows a good possible source for this susitable NOKIN replacement.....

32X has PWM, and PWM might make high buzzing noises if the sample rate is too low.

Yes you are right!.....But this one did the job for me...

I noticed my 32X actually has like some sort of a sizzling sound coming from it, but only when the Genesis is booted up. What's the board number of your 32X(it's written near the cartridge slot)? The issue is probably related to yours.

It is a VA0.....
We all know that the 32X system makes noises regardless( I wonder until how many decibels it is normal) , but in my case, it was way out of the ordinary.....
And btw, the noise was produced from the actual 32X system while running, not from the tv speakers.

Hmm... I have a VA0 as well, but I don't get any interference on my TV. All I hear is a sizzling type of sound as soon as I turn on the Genesis, then silence. Nothing but the sounds of my library of Genesis/Sega CD/32X games.

Does your board has the Blue body Nokin inductor?......The black one was definitely very cheapo...

Hmm, Ive never heard a peep from my 32x, but maybe if I held my ear to it very close. You guys can hear yours running while you sit back normal distance from it? Crazy

I made a post at one point when I noticed sounds coming from my 32X also. Works fine otherwise. Its not that loud you have to put your ear up to it but you can easily hear it then. Sounds like an old hard drive actually!

Guess I'm gonna have some more audio modding to be done with 32X once I get some...

I don't know what brand it is, but the actuator is blue.

Now, I'm almost for sure that this heavy interference buzzing noise, is related to the revision boards with the black one installed......The blue NOKIN is strongly shielded, while the black one isn't......I wonder if mine is a late or early Rev. ......Sega could have gone cheap almost at the end of the 32X lifetime., or, it could be a very early revision run( and later after, they found a more susitable replacement part) ...

what's the VA of the boards ?

Mine is a VA0, but apparently, other VA0's don't have the same specific part..
Also, pay close attention to the pics, each of the white ribbon cables appear to be from a different manufacturer (they are usually from the same)..So it could be a late revision...

Hey oo, if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for that 32X? I've never seen one at the Goodwill stores around here.
