Shall I kneel before you? Please tell me you know the fallacy in such a statement? I'm not going to pick through your post and waste my time on ignorant ears. */ salutes 17daysolderthannes unfinished degree /*Quote:
I am a Mechanical Engineering major (not a fucking mechanic, an engineer, you know, like the people that would design a car or a space shuttle)
well, in 1.5 years I'll get back to you when its finished with a minor in english and several honors credits not in my major (because none are offered in my major and I have to take them to stay in the honors program, a big reason I haven't graduated yet, did I mention I'm also in an engineering honors society for having a top...is it 5%? GPA). Hey, I'm not a dick to people until they're a dick to me, you totally tried to call me a dumbass for saying how stupid the eject button delete was and I told you what was up. OK, the eject button was kind of convenient and its worth noting it wasn't present in the revision, but by no means should it be used in a cost comparison chart to emphasize why the SNES 2 was cheaper. You attacked me about it, if you don't want to get flamed back, don't point the flamethrower at people. The guy obviously has no clue when it comes to electronics or manufacturing and all the statements he made about it were statements any jackass could make by just looking around wikipedia and simply staring at the console to see the similarities and differences. If you're going to spend time making a video for youtube, you should take the time to get your shit straight and know what you're saying is 100% fact. If you aren't sure, you should admit that you *think* something is right but not act like you are dead on 100% certain. There is nothing I hate more than people that will make something up or say something they aren't sure about and swear up and down it is the honest to god truth. Its not about being better than anyone, its about the correct information to be known, and if you can't see the value in that, you are a douchebag (not directed at you, but in general).
Guess you didn't catch the fallacy, did you? That makes your above post pretty much irrelevant. And I'm not the only who doesn't think the guy in the video isn't a retard. He appears to be a normal gamer that has some logical assumptions. He didn't go off on a fanboy rant as far as I can see. I think it's pretty apparent what was done to the SNES to cut cost. If this guy were a retard (like so many videos out there), I'd be patting you on the back. I just don't think this is the case and I take exception to that. Something else must have set you off. If he had the same "credentials" as you, maybe your argument would have more merit. But that still wouldn't make him a retard. I'm sure you've made plenty of "retarded" assumptions in your life time as well, as have all of us.
What I will probably never get is why people post links to videos they DON'T like as to get people to watch them in order to get them to agree that the video (or creator of said video) is stupid, when this only leads to the video getting even MORE hits, which probably will inspire the crator to make even MORE videos...
So these video-complaints are pretty useless. It's kinda lika a catch-22 situation, isn't it?
He didn't go off the handle saying Sega sucks and Nintendo's awesome, but if you look at his word choice, every single thing he says is positive and totally up the fanboy asshole of Nintendo, and that's WORSE than if he kept saying "SO MUCH BETTER THAN THAT STUPID SEGA LOL!" because he makes it seem as if his fanboy love is fact rather than opinion. If he were truly unbiased, he would've mentioned the removed features and then said how it, like the NES toploader, was too little too late and was really unnecessary when the PSX and N64 offered so much more for not that much more money, especially when you consider like 3 games came out since 95. And don't try and tell me how the NES 2 was a gift from god either, #1 its a crock of shit to have to buy another console because the original was a POS in terms of reliability and #2 it was RF only when it SHOULD HAVE been A/V only like the Japanese version. Personally, I think Nintendo were a bunch of assholes for misleading customers into buying the SNES 2 because they were far from supporting it, at least Sony really supported the PS One till the end of its life and the Genesis 3 was so dirt cheap it didn't matter (and FWIW the Genesis 3 was more of a retro re-release than a continuation, much like the Majesco Game Gear was, and priced accordingly). Also, in spite of the fact that he knew cost cutting measures were used (as anyone could figure out), he lists superfluous items like LED lights and eject levers but obviously doesn't know that the primary cost saver was the redesigned chipset. Sure, you can mention that they are missing, but instead of trying to justify it as a cost saver, he should have said "they even got rid of the eject lever and the power LED, which I think is a crock of shit considering it may have cost $1 more to make each system with it intact." But he probably didn't even know that, because, again, he's not really an expert. All I'm saying is this: if you're going to make a "historical" video game video for youtube, you need to A) do some fucking research and know what you're talking about B) be unbiased and reasonable and be willing to admit to faults with the system or game you're talking about even if you love it to death and C) never make statements about how something was better than something else unless you are talking in terms of numerical comparisons like processor speed, RAM, sales, etc., not what your fanboy ass made up. Now, I made a video called "Genesis Does" that totally takes the Genesis side, but that video was made as a rebuttal to all the Genesis hater videos on the internet and was meant to be that way and was by no means meant to be a "historical" video, plus I explain that at the end. If you watch my Yobo FC review, you'll notice that almost nowhere do I take sides for or against clones unless its clearly stated as opinion or it has a factual basis in cost or performance.
because, if enough people call a youtube video maker out for making videos without proper research, etc. then they'll go "well, they all hate me for half assing it, maybe I should know WTF I'm talking about next time." I made a video once called "the games the Angry Video Game Nerd wouldn't Review!" before I knew there were so many copy cats already, and, it was pretty terrible. I got flamed out the ass for it and since then I've changed the way I go about reviewing/talking about video game stuff in my videos (though I am going to go back and review those games again, those games deserve a body slam). If you just go around accepting this crap and just leaving comments like "duuurr, I like Super Nintendo too!" you don't change anything, thats probably why the AVGN still has videos full of poop jokes (though he's gotten better recently), because no one ever stands up and says "wow, I liked the video until you shit on bugs bunny's face, that was really unnecessary and not funny at all."
I think WizWar's reviews are a hundred times funnier than the Angry Video Game Nerd, and a million times funnier than the AVGN wannabes. I like him because he ACTUALLY LIKES HALF THE GAMES HE REVIEWS!!! It just goes to prove you, most of the time, positive reviews can be way funnier than negative reviews.
well holy shit, someone beat me to it apparently:
http://www.retrowaretv.com/home/TheG...5/Default.aspx
I just looked at his channel on retrowaretv.com and he did a review of the dreamcast and at the beginning of the review he says "People have been calling me a Nintendo fanboy[...]" and then goes on to make a MUCH better MUCH less retarded assessment and review and actually did some real background research. Bravo, see, leaving comments saying whats up really does make a difference.
well, no, because if you say "this video sucks because of *this* *this* and *this*" in the comments then either the creator will change their habits or continue to be berated and at least other less informed people will see the comments and go "oh, I shouldn't listen to this guy, he's obviously a jackass."
I'm talking about when someone puts a video they don't like it really just perpetuates the popularity of said video, it never ends. Either way, you're feeding someone's ego and/or production. BTW I've watched a few of your videos and I enjoyed them very much. Now YOUR ego has been fed.
You sound like a complete nutcase to me, I bet you're a mechanical engineer one day and the reincarnation of Napoleon the next aren't you.
Also, in case the question comes up in the future you may be interested to learn that the 360 does indeed have better graphics than the original Gameboy.
NO! I AM LE REINCARNATION!
wow, I'm going to have to put you in the "stupid" pile for that comment. Yes, the XBOX 360 is TECHNICALLY superior to the gameboy, meaning processors and the like are superior, but if someone likes dot-matrix better than hi def 3D rendered graphics, it is their opinion that the graphics are better. I was using an extreme example there, but there are many aspects of the Genesis design that DO make it technically superior in both audio and video departments. I can never argue sound from a technical perspective because thats just too subjective and as anyone can tell you, numbers don't mean crap when it comes to audio, its about synthesis and thats something you have to decide for yourself. As for graphics, the SNES can have larger sprites on screen (though Streets of Rage managed somehow), but can't move them around as fast as the Genesis can. Therefore, at least in one aspect, the graphics are superior to the SNES. Maybe you would argue that's more in the realm of gameplay, but then, again, we've delved into opinion territory. Plus, what about games like "The Red Zone" that features 3D rendered environments with no additional chips or hardware? Does software 3D rendering count as graphics? Find a clip of "The Red Zone" and tell me you've seen anything like that on the SNES without a Super FX chip. And see, I have just now further proven how subjective graphics and sound can be, you can talk tech specs all day, but its up to the player to decide what is really better graphics. You need to think outside of the box and stop being a consumer whore.
edit: oh, and for the record, I'm going to be an attorney actually :) , most likely specializing in patent or intellectual property law (kind of the same thing, but a little different).
