Okay, I've been convinced that I can actually obtain a brand new Amiga CD32 (NTSC...) but the only way I'll make that investment is if I can obtain:
D/Generation
Impossible Mission 2025
I have had no luck on ebay, where else could I look?
Also, is the CD32 region free? If so, maybe I can locate European versions of these games...
The don't believe that the Amiga is region free. I have a European (ported) version of Golden Axe, and it freezes up at the last level. Somehow the last level got lost in translation.
The CD32 has no regions. It was only released in Europe and Canada (the warehoused NTSC machines on eBay were for an aborted US launch), and there is no distinction between the two. The only difference is the system itself outputting NTSC or PAL, and the games being designed for NTSC or PAL. 99% of CD32 releases are designed for PAL, so you may experience PAL-related issues (depending on the game). These issues are 100% rectified if you get a Commodore 1084 or other RGB monitor.
There is no region lockout, and even if you buy from someone in North America, you are probably getting a PAL game.
The CD32 can also play:
CD-ROM based Amiga games (if it meets system requirements)
Most CDTV games (Turrican 2 doesn't work though)
With an add-on, regular AGA Amiga games
With WHDLoad or Relokick, OCS Amiga games too
There is no region lockout on any Amiga software. A lot of it is designed for PAL, but that doesn't matter if you're using a monitor. In the OCS era, most games had separate NTSC versions released in North America, but later on, they stopped bothering to re-do games for NTSC. I guess they figured most people were using monitors by then. I don't know for sure how many CD32 games were re-done for NTSC, but I suspect it may actually be zero.
As for where to buy CD32 games, most sites that sell Amiga stuff have a limited selection of CD32 games as well. Check out:

Also, eBay should be fine if you include sellers from other regions. They won't have a ton, mind you, but you'll find a few games.

CD32 Demo Disk 1 (includes the legendary "Tv Advert" Spot) if you own a MPEG Module it will play back in better quality.
BTW you can switch your CD32 between PAL and NTSC Mode:
Connect an Amiga Mouse to port 1, hold both buttons and boot, now you can switch between Pal and Ntsc Output.
Yes but that only fixes the 50/60 problem. PAL games have a larger vertical resolution that is simply cut off when played on an NTSC television. Changing the mode on the system doesn't help that problem.Quote:
