Final Fantasy VII soft pack?

I saw the weirdest thing at the Play N Trade where I do repairs today: a PSX copy of Final Fantasy VII in a tri-fold paper box/jacket/sleeve with 4 disc slots (it had all 3 game discs, I'm assuming the 4th was a demo disc or a special features disc) and a big, relatively thick manual. The overall size was about the same as the PSX longbox games, only about 1/3 as thick. Has anyone ever seen this before? are these particularly valuable? He has it for $45, which I think is stupid cheap, in fact it makes me mad I traded away my CIB RAM cart for a manual-less black label when such a cool looking package is $45 with black label discs inside.

That's the PC version sleeve. It came inside that notorious pyramid-without-a-top box. The hefty manual is for the PC version too... I remember it well.

Why it would have PSX game discs in it I don't know, but that is definitely the packaging for the PC version (hence the extra disc spot).

but then why does it say on the back of the manual "now available for PC"? unless, of course, it means other Eidos/Core (whoever ported it) games...

Even still, I would probably prefer that over what I do have, its essentially the same discs and the case is much cooler and manual is really a nice touch, and it is only $45. Hell, I could probably buy it and resell it on eBay and make a profit.

Half of the PC version packaging? Excuse me guys, but why on Earth would that be worth $45? Isn't FFVII the best selling PSX game of all time anyways? There's millions of copies of it floating around.

oh yeah? check eBay, you'll be lucky to find it disc only for less than $60, and thats for greatest hits. Nunzio, fanboys, fanboys, Nunzio, glad you've met. Final Fantasy III was a relatively high seller on the SNES but it can still reach $40+ and it was even re-released on PSone and can still be bought sealed. It makes me glad I don't really like RPGs because RPGs are the most fanboyed and overpriced pieces of shit ever.

Hahahaha, oh man that is hilarious. I remember buying Final Fantasy III for the SNES for like $30 and I dropped $19.99 for FFVII.

And I thought fanboys were to blame for the price of Rainbow Islands going up...

the worst part is that its not even justified, its the second highest selling game for the PSX for crying out loud, yet everyone acts like its a limited print super rare game. Again, I'm glad I'm not into RPGs, those dumbasses will blow 2 weeks pay for a half assed low budget adventure in boredom.
