I opened up a Saturn Interact cart and was surprised to see the contacts had deep imprints were the Saturn's connectors made contact. Meaning the board is so over sized the Saturn's contacts destroys the contact area of the board which is probably why they eventually stop working.

Thanks to the Interact cartridge, I often have to plug in my memory carts several times, to get them working.
Personally, I blame Datel for producing those Interact cartridges.
The Saturn CD+PLUS cart has the same issue, avoid both like the plague unless you want to ruin your cart slot.

They damage the connectors on the Saturn? I would think the connection area of the cart would take bulk of the abuse. I never heard much problems when one switches back to normal sized carts. The worse case I can think of its debris catching on the Saturn's slot pins meaning a cleaning in theory should fix it up Saturn's damaged by the over sized carts.Quote:

From what I can see these over sized carts from companies like Interact are so over sized that the Saturn's pins scratch the contact area of the cart, on my Saturn I don't see any damage on the pins and the scratches on my Interact cart are deep but they don't go into the PCB of the cart so my guess is the cart takes the brunt of the damage.Quote:

It takes very little to damage it and persistant use of these cheap carts can cause permernant damage, meaning that you will need to replace the cart slot alltogeather, trust me on this.
If you find yourself having to wiggle the official expansion carts to get them to work properly then this is yet another case of a damaged cart slot.
It should also be noted that the cart slots on the earlier of the oval button Saturns appears to be a lot more robust.
A general rule anongst Saturniers is: Plug it in once and NEVER remove it!
