I think you misunderstand. I'm not disputing that Blu-Ray has higher bitrates all around, higher-fidelity picture, etc etc, nor am I saying that watching DVDs with better equipment can add detail that isn't there. What I am saying is that the entry cost for Blu-Ray at this moment is far more than what it's worth to me and to nearly everyone I know. When it comes right down to it, most people aren't taking full advantage of their DVD setups...still using composite cables, or god help us all, coax to carry their signals. Do these people want to pay thousands of dollars to replace all their stuff with shiny new HDTV and Blu-Ray equipment? Nope.
For the entry cost, the PS3 and the HDTV should mow my yard and clean my house for me as well as give me the best possible picture and sound. :P
