Picked it up on release day during the week, but haven't had a chance to play until this weekend. I'm 6 hours into it and currently loving it. Reminds of a lot of Tales of Symphonia, which is one of my favorites.

yeah i also waiting to buy this one but wait some time to get it cheaper
but what s the price now
i only played tales of phantasia 1 and 2 on ps 1
I picked up the 10th anniversary special edition which comes in a nice metal case and includes a commerative soundtrack CD with songs from various games in the series (though there could have been better picks for some of the tracks.) So far, it's been an amazing game. Right up there with Tales of the Abyss and Tales of Symphonia as my personal favourites in the series. Of course, I'm a die-hard fan of the series and haven't played a single Tales of game that I haven't liked.
It's a shame that only about 1 out of every 3 games in the series that come in Japan out ever get translated officially. Apparently it's bigger than Final Fantasy over there (and rightfully so.) But at least this time Namco didn't cheap out in the translation and included everything the Japanese version got; right down to voiced skits and an English version of the original opening song written and performed by the same artist for both versions.
I also like that they went back to the vibrant cel-shaded look of Symphonia for this one. It looks absolutely amazing in 1080p on my new HDTV. Though Tales of symphonia 2 will probably feel like a step backward now since the Wii isn't HDTV friendly and is natorious for polygonal jaggies at 480p.
The cost is the same as whatever a normal Xbox360 game costs new where you live (usually around $59.99.) The special edition is $10 more than the regular one.

yeah but in holland i have to pay then 70 euro s that s to much i think
but is a american version playable on a pal xbox360
then i will buy a copy from ebay
The game won't be out in Europe for a while yet (as far as I know, you guys won't be getting screwed over completely this time as a European release is planned. Though the actual release date hasn't been announced yet.)
If you're importing the US version, you'll either need a North American Xbox 360 or a modded European one. You'll also need to make sure that your TV supports 60hz NTSC display, as the game will likely not support PAL.
if read there a asian version with inglish soundtrack and inglish text
but the don t now if it s region free
better cross my fingers
I so wanted the Premium edition as well, but damn if Namco didn't lock it out for PAL territories. Then we have to wait to next year... Dammit... Hope they bother to publish a Premium edition in Europe as well :(
I couldn't find the damn special edition. I went to best buy and then gamestop (three of them). None of the gamestops knew what I was talking about. Two of the gamestop stores didn't know what the hell the game was :? Morons.
The game is awesome though. I'm pretty far into it. About the Tales game coming out for the Wii, I thought Tales of Symphonia 2 already came out in Japan for the GC!? Is this a re-release/port or something? Anyway, I'm getting a Wii just for the game alone.
The Special Edition was only available on Gamestop.com (stores didn't carry it), Amazon and at Game Crazy retailers. I finished it last night, it was an awesome game. It's my personal favorite entry in the Tales series. The Wii game is ToS 2, there was never a Gamecube version.
Some EB Games stores (which are owned by Gamestop) in Canada have it, though I don't know about the U.S. The EB Games I usually shop at had 3 copies of the special edition in the glass case behind the counter in addition to the copy I preordered, but the other one across town didn't have any.
There's an actual Gamestop that opened up in the mall near my college (the first one I've ever seen in Canada) though I haven't been in there in a while so I can't confirm if they have it.
As Sudo said, there's no GC version of Tales of Symphonia 2. You're probably thinking of the first Tales of Symphonia, which was released exclusively for the Gamecube in North America and Europe, and on the Gamecube/PS2 in Japan. The Japanese version of Tales of Symphonia 2 has been out for a few months now in Japan, though it was was a Wii exclusive there as well.
No, I knew (and had beaten) Tales of Symphonia for GC US. I had read in some magazine 2 years ago that TOS2 was coming out for GC in japan, but no US release. Instead they were going to bring out a different game Tales game for PS2. Maybe it started out as a GC project, then put on hold and evolved into the Wii port. Whatever the reason, it's awesome that *I* do get to play the sequel :oQuote:
