The FM Towns version is obviously superior than the MegaDrive/Genesis version with much more detail & color. The Genesis version a slightly downgraded port of the X68000 version which itself is hugely downgraded from the arcade but plays decently. The FM Towns version seems only a notch below the 32X version which for a while was the only home version that was close to the arcade (at half the framerate though). It wasn't until the Saturn version came out in 1996-1997 that a near-perfect port of AfterBurner II was playable at home, a decade after its arcade release.

Anyone know where I can see footage of Last Survivor on the FM TOWNS or can point me in the direction of an emulator... no rons, but juts an emulator.

I think it is the emulator, the plane disappears a few times during the demo.

I could also say the 32X version of the game is choppy as hell because it runs at half the framerate of the arcade. Compare 32X version to Arcade, Saturn, or in Shenmue II on Dreamcast & Xbox.

Yeah, the 32X version is really slow compared to those. I personally prefer the Saturn version over all the others, since from what I've experienced, the Saturn version has better scaling than any version(much smoother) as well as the extra tracks with melody lines added in, which I like.

You can use the Mission Stick on the Saturn version, so even without the graphical enhancements (or perfection, rather) it is far better than other versions.

It is in the Sega Ages collection for the Saturn right? (which I do not have but am considering buying...)

I do, however, have the mission stick...greatest joystick ever...really great for the panzer dragoon games...

I imported the Japanese single-disc After Burner II, as that has both the original tunes, as well as those with the melodies added in.
However, I haven't found a Mission Stick anywhere, so it currently plays like the 32X version, as I only have a digital controller.

I have the Saturn version plus a Mission Stick.

Yeah the mission stick is sweet. I have a really strange flight stick for megadrive but for some reason I can't get it to work. It has 2 throttle switches and feels pretty nice all around. It has two different controller cords coming out of it. Im not sure if Its broken or if Im just not hooking it up right or if it only is compatible with certain games

Is it the XMP-1 or something like that? I remember in After Burner 2's Japanese manual, they had an ad for a very odd controller in the back.
