I spent time on this game last night...

To snap ball: button B once.
To pass: move QB back using D-pad, and button B twice to pass (after selecting a receiver using button A - you have to look closely to view a tiny yellow arrow above the selected receiver).
To hand-off: after hitting button B to snap the ball, don't use the D-pad to move the QB but hit button B twice to hand-off.
To punt/kick: button B once to start power meter, hit again to stop power meter, then hit a third time (very fast) to control direction of punt/kick - THIS IS NOT EASY!

Overall a very basic, mediocre football game but since I like football games i'll see how I master it over time. Besides, it's always interesting to learn and play a new title (generally) :D.

Just got NFL 98. Still adjusting to it, I like how it has lots of sliders.

Damn my Colts got crazy lucky on Sunday. Felt bad for Houston fans they got robbed of a sure thing. Colts looked horrible for much of the game and seem to be a shell of their former self, but they do have one of the best passers in the game. They just need a few key plays to nullify the rest of an otherwise horrible effort. Any teams that want to beat the colts its really simple just run the ball right up the middle or on either side it doesn't matter they wont stop you. Likewise the colts have not been able to run the ball for crap this season, so all you have to worry about is the pass from us. Sucks, we used to be good

I liked College Football's National Championship. In fact, it's still a pretty fun game to play today.

The advent of the sliders in football video games began here. Once you get used to the game I can give you slider settings that will keep the games close and competitive. Don't get me wrong, this game has some flaws but I believe it's the most true to life game releases on the Genesis.

Yeah hook up those sliders if ya dont mind.:) Ive been playing exhibition games but I wanna get a season going as soon as I create a few players like Payton Manning Bob Sanders etc. I like how there is no crowd and when you kick a feild goal it just goes into the void. I do kinda wish it had some commentary though, Im used to hearing Madden yell "Ooh what a hit!" every 5 seconds. It grows on you.

This is a good start for settings, you may need to tinker with them to get them right for your playing style. I found that these keep the game close and the statistics realistic.

You should, it's a pretty good game. Not to mention, I have spent way too much time updating it!

How is Tecmo Super Bowl for Genesis? They have it at my local thrift store for $3. I'm not a huge football fan, so will I still enjoy and is it easy to pick up and play?

Tecmo was a good title if you could get past the horizontal gameplay, something I couldn't do.

Get it, it's lots of fun. Plays essentially the same as the original but with better graphics and a few more plays. The SNES version is better in that it has a few extra cinema scenes as I recall, but they're essentially the same game. I'd just advise against playing it on a Nomad, since it still uses the teeny tiny sprites. If you want a similar game with larger sprites, look at High Impact.

I love football on the Genesis I have like ten different football games and the entire madden genesis collection.
