No the hippies turned into yuppies.
Hippies just turned into those old people who yell at kids to get off their lawn.
But if "Family Ties" told us anything, its that hippies grow old and spawn Republican children.
They really did turn into yuppies. They went from protesting wars so they wouldn't have to fight them to getting rid of all of welfare programs passed in the Great Society so they wouldn't have to pay for them. Boomers =most spoiled generation.
Number 1.I completely object to refering to a third party vote as a waste. If you think of how both political parties have destroyed the U.S. the evidence is overwelming.
A. Republican signed a medicare bill that allowed private corporations to raise prescription drugs for seniors
B. The Democrats attempted to legalize illegal immigrants further driving down standards of living. (Why hire an american when a illegal serf can do it for half that?)
C. Both political parties voted for the war, torture, and continue to fund both the fraud wars sending your fellow citizens to the meat grinder.
Obama:
1. Colleagues with Weathermen terrorist Bombers - Bill Ayres and Bernadine Dohrn
2. Owned by wallstreet financiers. Trilateral Puppet controlled by Zbigniew Brzezinski, David Rockefeller, George Soros, follow the money.
3. Zbigniew Brzezinski is his foriegn policy adviser, Keep in mind that this was the man who created Al-Qaeda to fight against the Russians.
4. Voted for the FISA Bill that allowed private phone companies to listen in to our calls in violation of the Fourth Amendment.
5. Wants to bomb Pakistan - Countless Civilians dead already from our bombing runs
McCain:
1. Loves the War - "We are winning the war on terror" Wants to send more of americans children to the illegal, fraud Iraq and Afghani conflict.
2. Loves Tax cuts for the Rich
3. Continuation of the "War on Terror" = The war on your civil liberties
4. Has little or no idea of economics in general. Wanted a gas tax "holiday" which mean more bridges and roads falling apart.
Waste my vote on third party??? I am going to do it with a smile on my face!
Books: Obama: The Post Moder Coup
Wasn't it your former President Washington who gave a farewell address bemoning the evils of political parties? Proportional representation is clearly the most democratic form of democracy.
Mr Smith:
1. Not colleagues with Weathermen terrorist Bombers - Bill Ayres and Bernadine Dohrn.
2. Not owned by wallstreet financiers, however, does owe a couple of grand to the bank.
3. Has no foriegn policy adviser would sponsor Russia to fight Al-Qaeda.
4. Did not vote for the FISA Bill that allowed private phone companies to listen in to our calls in violation of the Fourth Amendment. Respects the Fourth Amendment.
5. Does not want to bomb Pakistan and will instead target US weapons on Georgia.
6. Hates the War - It is a winless war designed to keep people afraid of an impotent enemy. Hardly comparable to the USSR and communism.
7. Would tax the rich more to build big statues of Rául Juliá.
8. Would abolish the "War on Terror" and begin a war against Genesis Knight.
9. Would invest in new techonologies to give America a real lead in the 21st Century.

I hate weathermen. They always get the forecast wrong.

Be sure to specify that you mean Georgia the nation and not Georgia the American state. Well, unless you really hate Atlanta.
I agree with you re: The War on Stone Age Retards in Caves. It really isn't nearly as scary as the USSR. When they have thousands of nuclear war heads on hair trigger alert targeted at our cities, then they will be.
The Edge: It was a joke and not intended as an insult against third parties.
Being a Political Science major, I could discuss this election for days. But that would be boring... so I won't.
I'll just say that I'll be voting for Obama. I didn't support him in the primaries, and I formerly respected John McCain, but to me the decision is obvious. One politician is running on change, and has the congress to achieve such things. Maybe we don't all agree on the kind of change Obama represents, but I'd argue that nearly 70% of us don't want another Bush administration.
During the primary, I'd argue with others about the legitimacy of the "McCain is four more years of Bush" argument. Anyone who knows politics knows that McCain shares little in common with the current president. My issue with him, though, is that he seems to have sold his soul.
Let me explain: he supported Bush in 2000, after Bush created terrible lies about him. He then went from opposing Bush's tax cuts, to supporting them. And finally, he chose Sarah Fucking Palin as his running mate, when it's obvious that he wanted to choose Joe Liberman or Tom Ridge. It seems like he's taken to changing his mind strictly for the purpose of political gain.
And regarding Sarah Palin: I believe the choosing of her was an insult to millions of American's intelligence. It's an obvious attempt at grabbing Hilary voters, but she's nothing like Hilary Clinton! And just two years ago she said she didn't have an opinion on the Iraq war, because it didn't affect her... this is the person who might be a heartbeat away from the presidency. The choice of her shows a serious lack in judgment by McCain.
So yeah. That was just my rant!
I see your point on the Palin issue but McCain is up in the polls thanks to her. If it keeps up like this he has a chance in hell of winning. I do not think she is qualified, after all she has been caught with her pants down numerous times, yet the general public does not seem to give a shit or a least the Republican voting base. These are the people that will allow him to win if he does. They were the ones that kept Bush in office. While I personally think Liberman McCain ticket would absolutely awesome I am pretty sure the Republican party would have trouble with McCain's vp being Gore's former running mate.
I can't stand Senator Night Trap. I really hate that guy, always have.Quote:

I feel you about McCain, Internal Primate. I used to like him, but his ambition of winning the White House has sent him off the deep end. It's like he's had some kind of psychotic break with reality. The Palin pick was the straw the broke the camel's back for me.
I don't know what to think of Obama. So far, he seems OK. I wanted a third Clinton term (well, maybe one without the tawdry scandals) but that wasn't in the cards. I just know I don't want more of what we had, so he's my choice.
EDIT: Today, Karl Rove said McCain has run a campaign that was too dirty and has told too many lies. No, that's not a typo. Karl Rove.
I didn't know there are people out there who actually like Lieberman. :)
I hate it when people dole out that speech about how voting 3rd party is wasting your vote. Rediculous. Whats wrong with voting for the candidate who best represents your interests regardless of if they have a chance to win it or not? I prefer to do this over choosing which of the two candidates the media tells me to vote for. I don't really care that the majority of people vote based on some guys promise for change, without knowing anything about them or that McCaine and his staff have had ties with big oil for over 10 years and have some questionable interests. They both have horrible foreign policy vs someone like say Ron Paul or Dennis Kuchinich. Obama and Hillary both secretly go to Bilderberg meetings and deny it when asked about it directly. Why empower the machine? Mike Gravel is pretty dope for a politition( I like what he said about Sarah Palin), but I think Ron Paul would be a pretty good president. I hope he has a chance at the next election after this one. Cynthia McKinney is pretty bad ass. Ive been watching her on youtube lately. Anyway I try not to judge others based on their political views, I could very well be wrong about my views and so its best to respect differing views. I definitly think we need to gear ourselves to conserve the environment, but I have heard some things about how there is global warming going on in several planets and moons around us relating to the suns activity. The sun is in a phase where it is expanding radiation wise which it does every so often thousand years. My dad is a biologist for STRI and assures me thats not the case but Im not so sure I agree with him. I need to research it more.
Tanegashima: Have you seen the documentary End Game by Alex Jones? It would be cool to get your opinion on some of that shit, not that I beleive it all, but if even some of that shit is true its interesting to think about at least. I could probably burn you a copy if you wanted. I also recomend the BBC documentary The Power of Nightmares. Thats a pretty entertaining and informative doc.
yeah I agree about the whole two parties ruining america.
I'm still angry about the whole Democrats losing the civil war thing, I'd probably vote for more democrats if they didn't puss out at Appomattox like they did. What really ticks me off is the looks I get when I bring that up to them...huh...
[Serious remark here-->] Dirt Ball Gamer:
Wow, I'm actually very complemented that you think it would be cool to get my opinion. I have not seen said documentary, however I can attest that my opinions mean very little as most of the time I have no real serious ones and am open minded to watching and considering anything. It would be awesome to check it out....
On the election, I can only repeat myself: I don't like either but I'm voting for mccain simply because both the house/senate will be strongly controlled by the democrats and I do not want ANOTHER 4 years of one party controlling both branches, Bush's years haven't faired to great and neither will Obama's. The best times always have split houses of govt.
Reagan years had a democratic congress and the clinton years had a republican congress. I wish Clinton had been far more pro-active in his foreign policy, but I have to say ultimately and as pretty much a libertarian I am more center-right than anything else. The only really right wing issues I hold dear are small government/gun-rights and a strong belief in local govt/states rights.
I HATE social politics and both the dems and repubs are guilty of it. Gay marriage this, abortion that. I DON'T CARE, NONE OF THOSE THINGS AFFECT ME!!! Can't we talk about real issues, if gay people want to get married I don't give a shit, just don't make me pay for anything and I'm fine.
On the lefty side of things, I really think healthcare needs to be reformed badly, I don't believe in a national health care system ala England/Canada, something far less extreme, but there has to be something and I'll be honest I'm simply not knowledgeable enough to give an answer. It's so damn complicated...
THE ABOVE IS SARCASM AND ANY ATTEMPT TO CALL ME A RACIST OR PRO-SLAVERY ON THE ABOVE WILL BE MET WITH ME MAKING EVEN MORE OFFENSIVE/POTENTIALLY OFFENSIVE REMARKS.
Lots of people are actually still fighting the Civil War in their minds. Mostly people who live in trailer parks, but still..
