Help me please!! :)

Ok my top 100 Genesis games list is taking loads longer than I thought but I am making quite a bit of progress now, it would just be helpful in speeding up the process if people answer a few questions I have, i'm generally just after a few different opinions to see if I need to double check some things.

1. best Shmup on genesis? (in order if possible) between Thunder Force IV, Eliminate Down, Gleylancer, Gaiares and Musha

2. best to worst Phantasy Star games

3. Toejam and Earl 1 or 2 best?

4. best puzzle games, was the Genesis lacking in the puzzle genre? Mean Bean Machine, columns, block out and qix spring to mind but not much else

5. best racing games? something that hasn't dated and still stands up as great, best multiplayer racers.

6. James Pond 3 good or mediocre?

7. any non-football sports games that really stand out?

1. Thunder Force IV, MUSHA, Gleylancer, Gaiares, Eliminate Down
2. IV is best. II/III are equal, I think. Should the original count?
3. Don't know.
4. Puyo Puyo Tsuu.
5. Bacharu Racing I think.
6. Hmmm... Good, I think.
7. Elitserien 95/96.

EA Hockey was widely praised

1. Thunder Force IV, Eliminate Down, Gleylancer, Musha, Gaiares
2. I'm ignorant in RPGs
3. None - boring for my taste (1st one is too slow, 2nd is ordinary platforming)
4. Krusty's Super Fun House, Columns III, Zoop, Sokoban (if you like it)
5. Rock'n Roll Racing, Top Gear 2 (even if it's inferior to the SNES version)
6. I enjoyed it in the past - damn, I even bought it for nostalgia's sake.

TF4, Musha, Gleylancer, Gaiares, Eliminate Down.

Don't forget Aero Blasters aka Air Buster, Twinkle Tale, Darius 2 aka Sagaia, Verytex, Undead Line, Elemental Master, Gynoug, Phelios, Truxton, Forgotten Worlds, Vapor Trail, Thunder Force III, etc. - In my opinion they would all belong on a Top 100.

Puyo Puyo 2, Pac-Attack!, Columns III, Krusty's Super Fun House, Zoom, Trampoline Terror, Mega Panel, Link Dragon, Klax, ... the best being Sokoban aka Shove It!

The best is Virtua Racing, but there's also Top Gear 2, Street Racer, Lotus 2 RECS, Domark's Formula One (& Kawasaki Superbike Challenge), Road Rash 2, Monaco Grand Prix (yeah, the first one), Championship Pro-Am aka RC Pro Am, Micro Machines '96...

Except for Virtua Racing and Micro Machines, they've all aged noticeably, but some of them are still fun.

Personally I don't think Rock 'n Roll Racing is good enough to be on a Top 100.

Not sure about that. It's unique, that's for sure. And exclusive to the MD/G.

If it's one game from the series I would put on a Top 100, it'd either be this or Rolo to the Rescue.

Capcom's Saturday Night Slam Masters is the best Wrestling game on MD/G, Konami's Double Dribble aka Hyper Dunk the best Basketball game, Sensible Soccer International Edition the best Soccer game.

My personal faves are David Robinson's Supreme Court (Basketball), Grand Slam Tennis aka "Jennifer Capriati Tennis", and High School Soccer MD - Kunio-kun aka "Nintendo World Cup".

Wimbledon Championship Tennis and International Super Star Soccer are said to be among the best as well.

No, it's not. James Pond 3 was originally developed on and released for the Amiga, and in addition to the MD it was also ported to the SNES and the Game Gear.

Unfortunately at the moment I have a 140+ list of games that all deserve to be in the top 100 :(

I wouldn't recommend Phantasy Star III. It's like someone forgot to put the fun in that game.

World Series Baseball

Super Skidmarks is also a very fun racing game. You should try to find that one.

I can agree with that if you're talking about the split-screen head to head mode.

As a 1-player game it's actually not too bad.

I have always liked Super Baseball 2020. Sports Talk Baseball isn't bad, and Tommy Lasorda, though good, is showing its age.

It's not that great either. The car models have been reduced in size, to compensate for the rendering power of the system/cart and it's the worst version available for the home. There are far better racers on the Genesis, so even considering this a top 100 title for the Genesis/Mega-Drive is selling the rest of the library short.

name the better racers I don't want to miss anything important.

Here are a few to start with. I'd recommend you also check out Rock N' Roll Racing (as was mentioned earlier). I've played the SNES and GBA versions of the game, but I've never had the privilage of playing it on the Genny.

Here is a side by side comparison of all the available versions of Virtua Racing. The Genesis version just doesn't feel anything like the arcade game. The Saturn version is okay, but I really didn't feel that great about it either. It wasn't until I played the PS2 version, that I soon realized why I liked the arcade game so much. It's still pretty amazing for an arcade game over a decade old.
