What is your level of patience? Are you the type that will get so frustrated that you'll start throwing the controller? I wish I still had the patience I once did. I now lean towards more relaxed games.

I don't chuck controllers but I used to when much younger. I just turn it off at that point. I don't play well when I am pissed off anyways. Usually it slowly builds up. I tell myself to stay calm which I do but eventually I snap and turn it off.
I remember being young having to play my older brother in nba jam and mortal kombat etc I would throw the controller a lot. My controllers are too expensive to throw now. I throw my friend's controllers and hit them etc cuz they do the same to mine when they come over an play so its more like payback. I love hitting the saturn pad for some reason. N64 pad hurts my hand(to play with n also to hit).
Right now most games don't test my patience as much, but if im losing at street fighter 2 I still get pissed sometimes if im playing a person who is talking trash while being cheap at the same time.
I can honestly say I have never tossed away a controller. When I get frustrated, meaning something does not work on second try I just switch the system off. I am lame.
I don't recall throwing controllers, I do get pissed sometimes and then I nicely hit reset, turn the system off, insert another game, turn on and play like nothing has happened...
I don't think I ever chucked a controller (I think even when I was a lot younger I had better control than that). Still, it seems that the madder I get at a game, the more determined I get to get through that particular section.
I know of many people who throw / drop / bash controllers especially when they are playing me in a fighting game. I don't do that cause you dont know when your game console's company will stop production on its merchandise (Cough* Dreamcast* Cough*)
I'm pretty patient yet I have trouble with people who suck at video games. Takes a lot of control to stop me from grabbing the controller out of their hands and telling them to sit down on the couch and watch me play the game correctly.
You allow them to sit on your coach? I always tell them to stand in a dark corner where they do not bother me so much! :D
My buddies older brother actually put a small dent in the wall with a NES controller after he was defeated in Baseball. Good thing it wasn't an original Xbox controller. It might have gone through the wall and killed his mother or something.
When I was little I did smash up some sms game boxes, when I got frustrated, not because the games were bad, but I wasn't much good at playing them. But they've since been replaced with nice complete copies, and my gaming skills have thankfully improved.
These days if a game annoys me I just switch off the console and play something else instead. Life is too short for playing crap games.
When I was much younger, I threw my NES controllers on occasion. A few times I twisted them and cracked the PCB inside. I was surprised because usually the NES controllers were tough (we had brick walls too). There might have been some teeth marks on the controller too <_<;
Thankfully I had soldering experience at a young age and fixed the cracked lends with a strand of wire and wax to insulate it. I pretty much grew out of that phase going into the 16bit systems. I did throw a GameCube controller once - more like tossed it and it broke... :?
Nowadays if I get 'heated' at a game, I just keep playing it 'til I beat what's ever causing the problem. It feels more satisfying overcoming the anger and difficult part without turning it off. Getting pissed off usually just get me more driven to overcome the obstacle. I look forward to Megaman 9 :)
I never, EVER throw controllers!
I smashed a Keyboard once, during a LAN-session. That was after it went bonkers during an UnrealTournament deathmatch and I kept strafing or jumping without hitting the respective key.
Many moons ago I punched a couple of controllers and left some teeth marks in them, the inner beast came out.
I never for once let go my frustration on my controllers.
However, when I was around 17 the thing I would do most when a game was being bitchy was punch the TV.
There was an occasion when I actually flipped the TV by doing this. And another time my father caught me doing it at 4 am - he was pretty upset and told me to get to bed. Hehehe. I think I was playing After Burner II, or Flashback.
I'll rarely toss a controller. Busted a few. Usually what goes through my mind is that one of the game designers is sitting right next to me and I imagine smashing my fist into his face again and again and again for making the game so unfair. He must pay!
Why do you press reset first? You can turn systems off without having to press reset. It won't hurt the game or the system. Try it... I DARE you.Quote:
