I presume the unit will be US NES only, so a Famicom>NES converter will be needed to play Famicom imports.
Has anyone heard of the Messiah NEX? That's the one I have. Its a bit pricier than the Yobo, but its also more rugged. It has a front-loading NES slot and a top-loading famicom slot, plus a built-in sensor for wireless controllers
I like they way they made it look like a SFC but it looks kinda silly with 3 slots!
Well, presumably the compatibility is supposed to be the best yet. Based on past examples, that would mean Genesis is perfect, SNES is 99%, and since it IS compatible with CS III it probably means NES is also about 99% compatible as well. As for sound, SNES is perfect in all recent SNES clones, Retro Duo has near perfect NES sound, the only one that might still suck is Genesis, but I've heard that's just because of crappy sound mixing so that may even be fixed. It wouldn't surprise me at all to find this system with near 100% compatibility AND accuracy. Anyone that wants a 3-in-1 system won't miss 32X and Sega CD compatibility anyway, anyone who wants to play a 32X or Sega CD game is a serious enough collector that they will buy original hardware anyway.
17daysolderthannes, you are now in this forum long enough to use the magic of this button: http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/6561/editfq7.th.jpghttp://img88.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif ;)
About Famicom compatibility: well, too bad, I need to look for an adaptor or a Famiclone then. :(
Famicom adapters are as easy to find as early copies of US NES games...most commonly "Gyromite".
The problem is that original NES systems aren't really all that great for playing Famicom games...the lid and tray get in the way.
To have the same inaccurate NOAC hardware? No thank you, I'd pass and get an FC Twin or RetroDuo if I were in your place. Last I saw them, they sold between 60 and 80 bucks.
I heard bad, really bad things about the NEX and its sound quality and compatibility issues.
As long as these things are inferior to both real hardware and emulation I see no reason to buy them.
for the record, all NES clones made today are NOAC. The only NES clones that had full chipsets were the ones made back in the day for sale in countries that didn't have an official NES distribution. The FC Twin has perfect sound on most games, the only games I find that aren't dead on are Konami games and even then its only a matter of certain channels being quieter than others. With my limited experience with the Retro Duo, the NES sound was perfect. This leads me to believe the FC 3 will probably have perfect sound as well. Even clone hardware will always be better than emulation because of the instantaneous controller response as opposed to having a USB controller have its signal processed and run through several other programs to finally be interpreted by the game. Clones also often have sharper video output and more reliable cart slots (for NES anyway).
