Man, naming Lord of the Flies and Watership Down in the same paragraph puts you right up there with Neil Diamond in my book (who was, by the way, phenomenal tonight!) :p

I like a little H.P. Lovecraft too...Shadow over Innsmouth(?) was a really cool story.
The Man who was Thursday was really awesome too, by GK Chesterton, I think the Edge (if you're reading out there) would really like that book.
I read quite a lot....I own a few hundred books. Generally I am a Terry Pratchett-fan. The Hitchhiker´s Guide was good too, but the first part was also the best one.
In Fantasy-genre I have read the Lord of the Rings three times, and I do like the Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind. Raymond Feist is nice too.
Beside that I am interested in classics; The Outlaws of the Marsh / Water Margin is my absolute favorite, eventhough I could only get a hold of an abridged copy yet.
I have also read and enjoyed Jin Ping Mei.
Alexandre Dumas´ Count of Monte Cristo was great, as was reading the medieval versions of the Edda, the Nibelungenlied and Parzival. Dante Aligheri is cool too.
I am hoping to get unabridged copies of Outlaws of the Marsh and Romance of the Three Kingdoms soon.
Nibelungenlied
ahh Senior year German class...memories return to me...
Let me guess, you JUST SO HAPPENED to think of Red Dwarf tonight, huh? What a coincidence! :)
I like a bit of lovecraft also. Very creepy! I have a collection of his stories that i'm about halfway through. Maybe I'll skip ahead to Shadow Over Innsmouth.
I read the first part of hitchiker's guide to the galaxy and really enjoyed it. I don't know why I didn't finish it.
Terry Pratchet . . . I dunno. I forced myself through about half of one of the Discworld books, and just couldn't get into it. His humor is a bit of an acquired taste, IMO.
Did anyone like Fight Club? (the movie). If so, do yourself a favor and read Survivor and/or Choke by Chuck Palahniuk. I have all of his books, but those two are probably his best
Aww, how can you not like Cohen the Barbarian?? He has diamond Din Chewers! I wonder what would happen if I made a custom computer case out of Sapient Spearwood...
I'm a big fan of Orwell. Not just 1984, but also his lesser works like Down and Out in Paris and London. I also dig James Baldwin.
If I want something really cerebral, I find Michel Foucalt's works fascinating. But I have to be in the right mood.
I also like to read philosophical and economic books. Not text books but the actual works. This includes stuff I don't agree with, but excludes Ayn Rand.
I read all kind of fantasy Pendrago i.e. or Books by Hohlbein an famous german Autor.
I like David Astle, Stanley Kubrick, Harlan Ellison, Maurice samuels, HP Lovecraft, David M. Buss, maybe Ridpath (Ridpath's History of the United States, okay a bit dry... ), the Bible, the Old Testament mainly, Ariel Durant, Lionel Tiger, and Peter Tonguette, and Sherlock Holmes. And Tim Burton.
Oh! And Stephen Grammel. :)
Did anyone read the sequel to Watership Down; Tales From Watership Down?
I was very disappointed
I read, its the only thing that gets me through a day of work other than the message board.
I enjoyed Anthem by Ayn Rand, but really couldn't get into The Fountainhead or Atlas Shrugged.
Honestly, even if no one here is into the Fantasy genre, you should at least check out the A Song of Ice and Fire series. It's as good as it gets. Great characters and great politics.
A lot of people are saying that Terry Pratchett is a favorite; I've only read one book of his: Good Omens, which is a collaboration with Neil Gaiman. Great read with laugh out loud moments.
[QUOTE=MrMatthews;107117]I'm not exactly a banner waving fan of his early stuff, but I really like the stories he put out during the middle of his career. Tommyknockers is my favorite, and I also really like IT and Needful Things.
I also really like his short story collections, especially Night Shift and Skeleton Crew.[QUOTE]
Hooooly shit. Just now realizing why I was hooked on Skeleton Krew, that game by Core for the Genesis.
.............. oh boy .......... am i dumb........

Wow. Even in GErmany I never read stuff like that in school! :D
Although, good for me in a way....having to read it in school might have spoiled it forever for me. It´s better to read things when you decide to do so.
BTW, I just remembered I read 1984 in scholl....that and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. I liked 1984, but Huxley not so much.
