Excellent point! However, I am perfectly open to someone attempting to cover one of his songs and actually do it justice.

I don't see the need for all the Alien Ant Farm hate, at least for the "Smooth Criminal" cover. It's a solid cover song, and if the pretty much by the books rock version of the song exposed more people to it who would otherwise scoff at the thought of listening to Michael Jackson, what's so bad about that? It was also nice to hear the song on the radio for a bit even if it's not the original, especially given the garbage that litters mainstream radio.

Granted, its a decent cover of a great song, so by association alone the AAF version is catchy.

It was cool the first couple times I heard it, but right around the 257th I was flat-out sick of it. I also resented the people who said "This is even better than the old song!". I watched Moonwalker over and over and over when I was younger, so I'm pretty partial to the original.

Plus, AAF got really pretentious there at the end, and I just don't like them.

Phil Collins, however, can do no wrong.

Yeah, that cover got incredibly overplayed.

You know a group's pathetic when it asks the audience to name them, and can only try to be edgy by drafting the Happy Tree Friends guys to make one of their videos.
