Do any of you guys play Genesis/MD online?
Nope. After the Tele-Genesis Modem was canceled in the U.S., I gave up on the idea of playing Genesis games "online", or over the phone lines -- Even though newer systems like X-Band emerged in the mid 90s, I never got into it.
I think he meant emulation wise, but please feel to correct me if I am wrong. :)
You mean like in Fusion
I've been wondering about that, is there a chat room-style way to do it? i.e. you just log in with a screen name and find someone to play whatever game you want to play and have at it? That would be kewl since its way to hard to actually meet up with friends to play video games nowadays and most of them play lame ass RPGs or FPS.
Gunstar Heroes and Battletoads would be fun to play online.
We should get together and play some games. That would make for a great article series, come to think of it...
My latency is so high I'm not really able to play online with anyone :(
I'd definitely be interested in a few online-Genesis-Sessions (What's better for those, Kega Fusion or GenS plus? Maybe a side-by-side-comparison is in order?)
Don't know. Lets try to work this out. I live GMT -6. I am usually able to play around 10pm-1am every day. CST if you are in USA. Contact me on AIM with yourdaemon, msn with evilaqua@hotmail.com and yahoo with groovy_daemon. I guess that would be the easiest way to setup a game?
I've played online before, via Gen's Kaillera ability. A little bit of Streets of Rage 2 here and there. Kaillera is quite clunky and unstable though; I've been spoiled by the likes of GGPO. I hear that Fusion's online is better, but that it requires you to personally set up with another person.
I did mean Kaillera. It is a little clunky but when you are playing games that do not require a lot of resources like Genesis, it runs almost flawless. We all should get together for some online play. I was thinking about playing something like General Chaos 4 player or anything really. Everyone playing Genesis runs Gens 2.10, its the most stable:

This is also a Kaillera server dedicated for Genesis games:

Can you play other than fighting games on GGPO? I thought GGPO is only for fighting games.
I'd love to play with other people.
But my geography sucks.
If you mean via browser, try Retro Uprising, a very large retro gaming site allowing you to play the classics online (Install the latest Java, the latest Flash, and I would recommend Firefox too).
If you meant online multiplayer, I never tried any games on online multiplayer, so I really can't comment.
I would like to play some Toejam & Earl and Gunstar Heroes. Just let me know.
Genesis is an online show based of the American TV series Heroes. It has to do with Pseudoscience and supernatural encountars. Only Teaser Trailers are out right now but they will be uploading the first episode hopefully around January 2009.

This spambot is still here !?
Sam2008 is one of the best spambots we've ever had. If I weren't campagining for my certain Presidential election victory then I would make a save Sam2008 banner.
Now on-topic:
I haven't played on-line for many years and don't feel you get the same effect over the Internets as you do with traditional 2-players. That being said I would be happy to engage in some on-line battles with you chaps.
I have an ever-growing list of games I'll be willing to try via netplay here. Kaillera is down until payment is resolved, so use Fusion for now. It's a lot better than Gens anyway. I even set it up to play SEGA CD games from my CD Drive and 32X ROMs. Now, It's my primary emulator for Genesis and its addons and maybe even Master System/GG.
