I've been looking for Herzog Zwei for months now, and recently I've added Zombies Ate My Neighbors to my "gotta have it" list, as well. It seems like the longer I go not being able to find these games, the stronger my resolve to get them becomes.
I'm not too desperate yet, though. I balked at $50 for a complete HZ on eBay, and I couldn't bring myself to shell out $30 for ZAMN.
How much is too much for the games you want?
I bought Shenmue 2 (DC) and PAL BootDisk for $79.99 Plus Tax. I think thats been the highest I have ever payed for a game.
For consoles I think my limit was for the Dreamcast Console itself $199.99.
I also spent $169.00 on a refurbished PS2 with 2 games.
NOTE: That same PS2 burned out a few years later. Never buy anything "Refurbished". I was lucky though, after it broke my friends were nice enough to buy me a new slim one for christmas.
Hmh....the most expensive game I bought was Duke Nukem 3D for the Genny, costing me 75 Euros, which equals about 96 Dollars today.
Usually I do not pay nearly as much though. Usually I only buy games I am very interested in for 30 Euros or so, most of the MD games are 15 Euros or less.
Time does not matter much to me though; I have been looking for complete copies of Fatal Fury 2 and Batman: Revenge of the Joker for ages, but I am still refusing to play more for those games than I feel they are worth.
I've paid around $200 for some games, but I've already bought all games that cost so much which I also want. When buying games now, I try to buy them for as low as possible and compare to what others have paid for it previously, so the prices differ now.
I spent $30 on sealed copy of The Punisher for the Genesis, a waste of money considering I just tore it open and popped it in the second I got it. I'd been looking for that game for years! It was one of my favorite games as a kid and I was so happy to spend the $$. It's by far the most expensive Genesis game I've ever bought.
I spent $125 on Radiant Silvergun for the Sega Saturn. I regretted every day until I received the game in the mail. After about 10 minutes of heart pounding shooting goodness I was extremely satisfied with my decision. By far the most expensive game I've ever bought.
I realize I will never buy Panzer Dragoon Saga as much as I want to complete the trilogy...but this game is just too damned expensive. Way too damned expensive. I draw the line at paying $200 for a video game.
My local retro video game source sells Genesis games for $1.99, complete or not. Doesn't even matter how rare the game is. I'm nervous spending too much on a game because I know eventually i'm going to find a game I just spent $25+ there for $2.
I'd spent $160 on Rock Band, but as far as older games go, I rarely spend over $20.
I had bought a Super Famciom with a Supercom Pro.1 SP-3200 copier unit, both complete, for 250 BUCKS!!!!! That's the most I'd pay for a used game console. The most I've paid for a brand new unit was 270 bucks for a Wii. My most expensive game would go up to $60 new, and $25 used(bought R-Type III for the Super NES for that price).
The most I've ever spent was about $300 for Shinrei Jusatsushi Taromaru for the Sega Saturn. This was about 5 years ago. The last time I spent big was $115 for Trigger Heart Excelica for the Dreamcast, which was about 2 months ago. Now I've cut my limit down to $50.

I typically buy used or download.
But I'm still getting the Amazon.com Survival Edition of Fallout 3 ($130)
I have no upper cap, however, will always try to get a game as cheaply as possible.
I just got my back up Dreamcast in the Mail yesterday. $100.00 of brand new console goodness.
Also after Tanagashima mentioned Radiant Silvergun I started looking up some Sega Saturn games and kind of pissed I never bought one. Also can someone give me a quick reason why it bombed so bad?
There are few stores near me like that. the most I ever spend there is 5$. its mostly just the easy to find stuff and sports games, though sometimes I manage to find something thats rare. So far the most Expensive game on my wants list for the Genesis is M.U.S.H.A. the cheapest I've seen it is 70$ although if anyone has a copy they wanna sell me for less than send me a message.Quote:

Not counting Rock Band (it's nuts if you count all the lights, downloads, extra drum sticks, throne, groupies, blow, rehab ...), the most I've ever spent on one game was $100 shipped for Bust-A-Move Again for my Neo Geo, or $130 for my Rival Schools PCB.
The thing is, if a game is much more expensive than that, I start looking at ways to bootleg it. Then, if I run across a legit copy later, I'll buy it. Is it shady? I think it was a horrible idea to cut the cord on Dreamcast. They should have at least kept selling a small amount of games and DC consoles on an order by order basis while making new games for the other non-sega consoles.
They would have made a lot of money and showed some respect for their costumers that way.
Me? Just agreeing with you. Just saying people stood in line to buy on the first few days. People wanted the Dreamcast when it came out . Sega must have done something right
I believe that had to cut the cord in order to produce for other systems. Contract hijinks and such
I think it all went downhill after they fired their Pro-Dreamcast CEO because of "Differences of Opinions"
Type into YouTube "History of the Dreamcast" It definitley shed some light on some stuff.
Maybe it was just getting too hard. It seems like the 32x and the Saturn caused so many headaches that bled into the dreamcast era that once the dreamcast began to suffer because of previous transgressions, it might have been something of a relief to get out of the hardware business.
What if sega had sat out of the 32-bit generation completely? The dreamcast would have been the immediate successor to the Genesis. I wonder if that would have changed anything.

If Ebay was cheap like the old days I might try that also. I would have an auction for every game I have. If I sold one I would be making out like a bandit.
It`s great buying something on impulse and comming across the same game a few days later at half the price! Once I make my mind up on buying something I dont feel like looking around or playing the waiting patiently game.
I do that sometimes. Every now and then I'll just go on a binge and pick up a bunch of MVS games or something. Fortunately, I can generally stop around the $200 mark.Quote:
