Top 100 Mega Drive Games

After spending weeks working on this I've finally got it up and running, it took long enough just to make the list but then my PC got a virus and I had to format my harddrive and start it again, anyway I'm not massively happy with the way it turned out at the moment but I've decided that I want to update my lists on a yearly basis so I'm hoping that by the time of my next list some of my opinions will have polarised somewhat.

Please keep criticism friendly i'm not in the mood for it right now, i'm fine with "so and so should've placed higher lower" or "this game should've made the list" as that'll help me when I get around to revising it, just don't post insults ok :)

I love this list, Sonic 3 is on top :D

Ristar deserves a higher place though...

At the moment I just hoping it's better than the Screw Atack one :D

Dude I'm fine with, tell me which games, the more opinions the more helpfull at this stage.

Yeah, I meant to do that, but it would have taken time I didn't have. I will post my opinion later. Overall that's some damn fine work. Kudos for including Wonderboy in Monsterworld into the Top-20! :)

At the moment I'm thinking that my Top 100 Master System games will end up being Wonder Boy heaven (when I get around to making it, gonna rest for a bit at the mo)

You have done a bloody good job, I`m happy where my favourite games have placed like Dune 2 and Mortal Kombat 2 and not to mention Sonic!!!

I like the list (Phantasy Star IV is #2) :). I would have put Panorama Cotton and Puyo Puyo Tsuu somewhere on it.

I liked it, was good fun reading all the comments and you covered most of my faves as well as some overlooked titles.

I think some of the comments could be longer, sometimes you seemed more excited about a 70-90 range game than a top 30 one, or didn't say too much about the game itself (landstalker or ps2 for example).

And do you really like Wonder Boy? Because I didn't see Monster World IV on the list. ^^

Yeah I know I'm quite bad for this I think it's the rooting for the underdog part of me, I like to give credit to the lesser known games and a lot of the time when writing for the top 30 I found myself thinking "everybody already knows about this game anyway"

I kept wondering what I should do with imports, I know a lot of people don't like to use emulators and stuff so that just left playing it with Japanese text on real machines, a lot of other imports went in due to their accessible self explanatory nature

Fair enough, I'm really the same anyway. I guess for the popular games you have to go at it from a different angle, give your personal take on the game or dive into unknown facts about it.

Yeah I personally don't mind emulation, it's accurate enough and I even prefer it with some games. Didn't realize you own all those imports though, rethpect :)

I have to say that this is a very well rounded Top 100 and I have no complaints about it what so ever. It brings the best of both worlds to the table. The well known favorites mixed in with some obscure ones that we should not overlook.

Good Job!

1 Question: For Street Fighter 2 are you lumping all the SF's into one catagory because so many came out on the MegaDrive / Genesis?

Nah I don't own every single game unfortunately, but I do own a large part of the list, I don't have a problem with emulation myself, but many peple do, and also I think that when talking about retro games it should be primarily about the real hardware.

Someone already brought up the fact that Alien Soldier wasn't released in the US and so shouldn't be on the list on another forum.

There were 2 street fighter 2s for the MD, Super was probably the best but tbh they're still the same game Super just has more options and characters. I'll write Super on it later when I get around to it I guess.

Good list, not the order I would have put some of my favorites, but a very good list! Good work! Oh and you misspelled rabbits on Wiz N' Liz.
