Its either Japanese MD1 or European MD2 for me.
The Genesis Model 1 and the Sega Saturn 1st model (with cool oval buttons and an access light, but I own a 2nd model). I don't understand the problem with the plastic casing for a Saturn before. Cheap? Does it break? People can't complain about it getting scratched because all systems are prone to get a scratch or two.
I think he is talking about game cases. The US Saturn boxes were indeed made of cheap plastic and broke/cracked very easily.
And its pretty difficult to store Sega CD/Saturn cases on shelves due to the weird height dimension.
The Saturn and Sega CD cases are my least favorite. they fall apart too easily and tip over too easily, Though I do have Cool Looking Model 1 Saturn with Oval Buttons :)
as for favorite cases I'd say Genesis and Master System
Pre-2006 American alone:
Genesis Model 1/2
PS2 Old (So I could have my Genesis on top of it)
Master System 1 (Card slots, dude, plus the 80's retro look)
I don't like US Sega CD and Saturn cases at all. Too big. Too much air inside.
However, I have found a way to store them properly (been thinking that it's time for some pics).
The most reliable and crack-proof cases for cartridges are the Genesis/Mega Drive ones. Though I prefer the Japanese material.
The most reliable and crack-proof cases for CDs/DVDs are definitely DVD cases. I've got lots of cracked CD cases to replace, and now I can't find new ones to do it. :?

System cases or game cases? I like long boxes they're cooler looking when on display than little cd or dvd cases. The ultimate in collecting though has to be Neo geo AES/NGPC cases with snaplocks those are awesome. Genesis cases are great to of course.
PS3's new cases are kinda nicer than the competitions cases
As for systems.... I tend to like when they make the cases feel nice look cool and not scratch or yellow to much. Neo Geo is a nice looking machine. Saturn is cool and sony has always done a nice job with their cases. PS3 is a sexy beast (in need of games) they do smudge and scratch to easily though
I think the Nintendo DS has the best looking cases. Small, simple, attractive, easy to store.
Agreed and AGREED! Sega was way ahead of the competition using clam shell cases for the Genesis / MD. The box the game came is was actually good for something after you bought the game. 90% of the kids I knew just threw away the boxes that their SNES and N64 games came in, because to them, they were worthless. All the boxes were was a piece of cardboard that gets crinkled up and takes up space, and why would you want to put the game back in after you buy it?Quote:

i like the ea keeper cases since the game is in there straight up
instead of sideways like a sega
