OK, I have like a million questions about video games, technical crap, life in general. So instead of polluting everyone else's thread I will just ask my questions here instead. Most of the questions will be very stupid but just bare with me.

Yay first thread!!

Ok, first question: I received a VHS tape from Europe the other day, but when I put it in the VCR (im here in America) it would play but the picture looked all crazy, like all black and you could barely see anything at all. Is this because its not compatible with american tv sets?

PAL VHS is not a pal of North American tv sets....

I don't think its a NTSC/PAL issue, I think you have five days to live after viewing that tape.

it is a PAL/NTSC issue.... the tape is recorded with PAL data, and your NTSC machine won't like it because of 50Hz(your TV probably hates it aswell) and different color freq. Playing NTSC VHS on PAL unit will have nothing more than black and white picture.

Damn, thats what I figured.. Its my Gary Larson's Tales From the Far Side Movie that I have not seen since I was young. Double Damn!! I really wanted to watch that and there does not appear to be any north american copies of it. Maybe I could give it to someone in Europe, have them record it and somehow put it on DVD in north american mode. Might take some knowhow in computers and whatnot. Damn! Ah screw it. Oh well

Talk to Zebbe. As I recall, it was he and I that were curious about that movie in the first place. Maybe he can help.

He can have it if he makes me a copy that will play on north american tvs. Yeah I dunno I gotta look into it and see if there is a way to do it somehow.
