i was thinking about buying a 360 core,, and then buying a 512mb memory card, but my questiong is will this be enough memory for the new dashboard and having an xbox live account?,, all i will be really doing is going on live and saving my games etc. so for all that is that going to be enough memory?

your best bet is to buy a 20GB 360 drive and swap it out with a 500GB laptop drive because like all things Microsoft, it will require 10X the initial cost to actually do anything you want to do.

A 512 and a core is fine for what you want to do. You'll eventually want a hard drive, but the $100 60GB live starter kit will get that done later on down the road.
As for the hdd swap, it can only be done with a 20, 60, or 120GB drive, and then only specific ones. You have to flash the firmware on the replacement drive with the one from an original MS drive so the 360 will recognize it. Even then, there's a risk they'll notice all the 120GB drives using the same serial number and start banning people. Best just to stick to the real drives, IMO.
I'd agree except that we still don't know how much space the NXE will take up (as far as I know, at least). I doubt he'd want to possibly commit the bulk of a memory cartridge to the dashboard and have little to no space leftover for any game data and XBLA downloads. It's still an option, but since the OP specifically mentioned the new dashboard, I'd wait until it rolls out to see how practical the Arcade core system will be in the new Live environment.Quote:
