I'm saying how much I hate the XBOX 360, though I do find the original a highly overrated piece of shit as well, but hey, most collectors think the 32X sucks but they own one anyway, same thing. If I ever own an XBOX 360, it will only be after they PROPERLY fix all of the flaws (which will be never) or I get it for less than $20. Oh, and I will NEVER subscribe to XBOX Live. Heck, I might not even get the regular XBOX at $15 considering what crappy controllers it has. What's the point of emulating games if the controllers aren't worth holding?

Yeah, 17day, give it a rest. I'll admit I was pissy a half year back at the Sony of Americas butchering of the PS3, but once sony acctually sprouted a sack and supproted their console, I shut up. Plus the whole James Bond collection just came out on Blu-ray, I might acctually pick up blu-ray and see how it is, now that have more then b-list, made for TV movies on Blu-Ray.

Almost every other major manufacturer seems to make OK stuff, why can't Microsoft with all their billions manage to make something without 34534 points of failure packed in the box? Why do I get singled out as being "ridiculous" when I think something is shit, but if someone doesn't like the 32X or the 3DO or Jaguar or something its perfectly OK? I think its a much more relevant claim to declare the XBOX 360 a piece of shit than to argue the validity of a 10+ year old system. I'm not saying there is no point as all 3 of those systems have some hidden gems worth noting, but all I'm saying is I deserve to have systems I just plain don't like like everyone else and I don't see why voicing my opinion is grounds for being considered abnormal behavior.

No one is singling you out, but your rant is far more to the extreme than anything in the 32X/Jaguar/3DO thread. No one went off about the systems like you did...its okay to hate the 360, but your ravings are what are being criticized.


On a side note: If you manufactured a piece of hardware, or anything for that matter...why would you make it so people could mod it without you getting a piece of the pie?

OMG you forgot about the extra $100 network adapter you need to get your 360 to pickup wifi!!! I remember how mad I was when I tried to buy one for my PS3 but the dude at GameStop told me it has wifi built into the system and then I didn't know what to spend my $100 bucks on. I bought some PBR, super nachos, and sunglasses if I remember correctly.

Since this is a retro board, I only want to argue about the Genesis VS SNES. We'll have our own PS3 retro board in 17 years to do this all the time.

PS3s, Xboxs and Wii's won't be around in 17 years to bitch about because they'll all be fried and non of the video games will work because all the developers will ensure that they can only be used on one system.

Besides the world is ending in 2012 so its of no concern anyway...

I admit that the 360 is a total POS hardware, but the library is amazing, and playing online rules. PS3 and Wii have free online, but having to download patches just to get games to play right and the retarded friends codes are not my idea of an ideal online setup. It's free, but you get what you pay for.

If I'm not doing the modding, I don't deserve the cash. It's one thing to try to keep people from playing bootlegs, its another to not let them upgrade their hard drive because Microsoft was too stupid to make it big enough. It's not just that either: $100 for Wi Fi? JESUS CHRIST! $120 (I think) to fix RROD if its out of warranty!? WTF! $100 for a 60 GB Hard Drive when you can get almost 500GB for that price! you gotta be shittin me! $50 GOD DAMN DOLLARS for a 512 MB flash memory card!? I can buy a flash drive the size of a paperclip that stores 8GB for like $15-$20, where is the other $30 coming from for 1/16 the space? It's not just a ripoff, its fucking extortion: pay us 2X what the system costs or else you can't play the games, sorry :) I guess Sony is just hemorrhaging money since they allow users to upgrade their hard disk themselves.

Having a good library with unreliable hardware (in this case disgustingly unreliable) is like having a hot girlfriend with AIDS. I totally agree that XBOX 360 got lucky with the developers (though it took them like a year and a half to get ANYTHING worth owning), but what pisses me off is that the only reason they did that is because they released shit hardware and made it deceptively priced since the base model comes with NOTHING. The Wii costs $250 and has built in wi-fi. The XBOX 360 base used to cost $300 without and costs another $100 to add it. What does that tell you? If people knew anything about economics and value the PS3 would be the system everyone had with all the good games and Microsoft could go crawl in a hole and die with all of their horrible bug filled products that ruin my day on a regular basis. FWIW, I OWN a Wii and I hate it. All the games for it are garbage (spare a very select few). The Wii gets less play time than any system I own, I usually play it about once ever 3 months if that. There was one time I went 6 months without playing it. Knowing what I know now, I would've skipped on the Wii and just spent that money on retro collecting and then got a PS3 later on when the price came down. PSP is pretty sweet too, I might have to get one of those, especially now that they have the A/V outs.

That rant was annoying.

You answered your own damn question: Sony is indeed bleeding money, like crazy. Many of their stockholders want to pull out of the video game business as it is considering they don't expect to break even unless the system is supported for at least 8 years! Insane!

Microsoft is attempting to turn a profit on their hardware because that's what they've always made money on...which isn't typical of the video game market, profits are in the software not the hardware.

But EVERY company is guilty of overpricing their own accessories. You bitch about microsoft, but look at apple for christ's sake. Their headphones for the iPod cost twice as much as a no-name brand set and are total utter complete shit. Apple software is also extremely expensive. There isn't an accessory apple makes that doesn't cost a shitload and 99% of it is incompatible with aftermarket cheap stuff. Thank christ apple doesn't make a video game system UGH! The games alone would cost 50 times what the standard fare goes for (slight exaggeration, perhaps, but we'll see...).

At least microsoft lets other people make shit for their hardware, and there are alternatives when it comes to software. Apple is the worst!

I already said why Sony was bleeding money: dumbasses thinking the 360 was cheaper when in reality it is MORE expensive once you buy everything you need. You can't turn a profit or attract developers if no one bought it in the first place. Microsoft pretty much failed at turning a profit anyway after the $1 billion recall for RROD WHICH STILL ISN'T FIXED. I have already had to fix 2 POST RECALL XBOX 360s. They are so stupid to continue using those shitty X-Clamps when they could almost as easily just use screws like the RROD fix uses and never have a problem again. Non-computer Apple products do suck for the most part, the reason I don't own an iPod, iPhone (cool device, but overpriced), or any other Apple product besides their computers. Apple computers, on the other hand, are bad ass to the max. I can only handle a Windows computer for about 15 minutes before I go "holy shit where is a Mac, this is driving me nuts!" Nothing ever seems to work right on PCs no matter what you do whereas Macs seem to correct your mistakes for you almost. I may be paying just for the OS but it is totally worth it. Hell, Windows runs better on a Mac than on a dedicated Windows machine. Cohesive well built hardware FTW.
