The Dreamcast, PS2, GameCube, and Xbox are of the same generation. Given that the Dreamcast was released first, it's only naturally for successive systems to be more powerful. Likewise, given their longer life spans, developers could get better performance as time went on, a luxury the Dreamcast was not really afforded. That said, there remain fantastic looking Dreamcast games -- Soul Calibur, Ecco the Dolphin, Test Drive, Power Stone 2, Shenmue, Phantasy Star Online, and others still hold up quite well, and many games really shine with a VGA monitor. I prefer the Dreamcast Third Strike over the PS2/Xbox versions as it looks so much sharper on the Dreamcast (plus I seem to be in the minority who love the Dreamcast's D-pad :p ).
