I love this site/community, but with this particular thread, I totally agree. I can't stand WoW, but I don't feel the need to insult people who do like it. It's a game. We're all gamers. So I haven't logged in 100 hours into Warcraft, but I have logged more than triple that into countless other games in my lifetime. What's the difference?

I'll hesitate to call us a bunch of nerds calling WoW gamers nerds, because I believe gaming is a hobby. I know that I've never appreciated it when somone judges me on my personal tastes, so I'll avoid that now. Maybe a little more respect for and from everyone is needed.

I personally have stared clear of WoW as it sounds exactly like the sort of game that would suck me in and eat away hundreds of hours of my life, I have a thing for games that take forever in a day, (my favourite series being the Final Fantasy lot) but this just infuriates the Mrs at the best of times, so I`m sure if I started playing WoW I would have to cook my own meals, do my own washing and play with myself!

lol, but I still disagree, it comes down to the mentality. WoW players really think they are an orc trapped in the wrong body like a transvestite thinks he's a woman inside. I, on the other hand, just like to rock out and kick some video game ass on occasion and treat a game like a much more entertaining jigsaw puzzle or rubik's cube than a "mystical fantasy gay buttsex orgy" the RPG crowd brings to the party.

I think you are missing the fact that this is still about 75% joking and just some rib jabbing fun. At the same time, I really DO hate being lumped in with the RPG/MMORPG crowd because when people know you play/collect video games they automatically think of those dark room dungeon weirdos instead of people like me that can maintain a normal life in the sunlight. I don't see how collecting video games should be treated any different from collecting movies or music, and most people wouldn't be called a nerd for having a big DVD collection or a big stack of vinyls.

Seriously look at your post. You say you dont want to be lumped in with "basement dwelling" WoW players yet you're lumping all WoW players into that category. You are the epitome of irony.

Well . . . I would call those people nerds. But I have a big DVD collection and I would love to have a big stack of vinyls. I am a nerd and I'm proud of it.

I always thought games like WoW were just a MUD with some pretty graphics thrown on. I don't understand it, but then I don't understand texting either. :s
