If you backed up the system's firmware before you flashed it (I didn't... *cringe*), you may be able to restore it, something about replacing the nand-dump.bin file in the root directory of the Memory Stick and holding Triangle while turning it on. I think.
It's a long shot in the dark at a target the size of a fly's bottom, but it's possible :)

It apparently was just a too far gone PSP. My friend was like "WTF, I have no idea!" Luckily, there was an even better shape PSP that hadn't been used for parts yet (phew!) and I'm playing THPS 2 on it right now :). I guess whatever was wrong with the other PSP went beyond the UMD drive.
