Were did the good nintendo go ?, after the original NES all their consoles (Except for n64, kick ass 2nd/3rd party support) has been made of fail. Good thing I stuck with sega and Playstation as a young kid. But on topic, this is the last straw, I want to see if Dead rising spinoff for wii is any good, If it sucks then I'll have lost all hope for nintendo.

Personally, I don't see this as evidence that Nintendo has taken another serious hit in quality or anything. Miyamoto doesn't like hard games, for one, so I wasn't surprised to see his name attached to the project.
Second, as little use as I see for the dumb thing, it is optional. I'm thinking that it is almost trying to draw the "casual" gamer to games other than Wii Fit (or whatever games they play). I see that as a good thing.

The reason this tweaked me because I just got GTA 3 to work on my 360 yesterday. AND AND AND I'm doing what I started in 6th grade before my original xbox died, go through GTA 3 without cheats at ALL. I am very nostalgic for GTA 3, because it is the only game my parents took interst in. I'd come home from early middle school and they'd be in the living room passing the controller trying to get passed certain missions. BUT my original xbox died before I got to the last 6 missions. I didn't save the HDD, so I am bumfuck back at the beginning. WITH NO DAMN CHEATS AT ALLLLL. I got past the mission "Bomb da base : Act ii" all by myself (just got lucky with the sniper rifle). That is a hard mission, took me 7 trys, and not to mention I had to go all the way back across town to reactivate the mission, BUT I TRIED HARD AND I SUCCEDED. So I come downstairs, get on the PC, open up two tabs one for here, one for Digit Press. Then I read this and just facepalm as hard as I can. I almost beat GTA 3 with no cheats back when I was 11, but 30 years olds can't play Wii sports without an auto-pilot. Not to mention, why pay 60 fucking bucks for something that is pretty much, a screen saver. Plus imagine getting awesome skills in a game, making a world record, and having everyone go, "I BETZ THAT NOOB UZED TEH AUTO-PILOTZ AT SUM PARTZ."

My first reaction when I read that article was that if anyone is so shitty at video games that they actually need the console to play the game for them, then they shouldn't be playing video games at all.
And then it dawned on me that is probably exactly what the point was.
All of our parents and grandparents who bought Wii's for Wii Sports and Wii Fit, maybe they are looking to branch out and try playing a *real* game. Naturally, since they've probably never played a video game before (my parents haven't touched a controller since the 2600, I'm sure), they aren't going to get too far. This little bit of hand-holding might get a few of them to actually see a game through and possibly buy more games that they otherwise wouldn't have
Trust me, you shouldn't take this article as any kind of omen.

Once again, I can't disprove you my friend. I also don't take this as a bad sign for things to come. BUT DAMN what happened to games that were made for US, the GAMERS, and not Wii-mote flailing Soccer Moms ? Remember Mario and Sonic games with serious challenge, Mega Man (no not 9), Doom (not 3), Contra, Outrun, Streets Of Rage, Final Fight, Earthworm Jim, Parappa The Rapper, Mortal Kombat, Tekken (a good one), Gunstar Heroes, Rocket Knight Adventures, Snatcher, Text adventures period, and I'm probably forgetting many more awesome ones, but these were the only ones on the top of my head.Quote:

I think we are gonna have to agree to disagree...to hold the N64 in higher regards than the SNES makes me laugh uncontrollably.
As for this auto-pilot stuff. I was at first saying "WHY?", then I remembered that I don't actually view Nintendo's current system as a video game system aimed at me.
Its like a home console that plays cell phone type games. The games are meant for quick fun, and not hardcore dedication. Anyone thinking this system is in the same category as...well...any previous game system aimed at gamers and not grandparents* is just kidding themselves.
*I say grandparents because my GF's grandparents have this thing and love it.

I just have to LOL at news like this and move on. Nintendo doesn't cater to me anymore, so I don't own its console. I don't even consider the Wii to be a games console anymore. The shit-to-quality software ratio is absurd, and most of the games are made for my daughter and mom, not me.
