It's funny. Both conversions are good games in their own right; and yet the film is pants...
For the the megadrive version was better. There was more shooting & it felt more like the films when you were shooting (even though the SNes version looked better).
Thats why i went for the MD version when i made my wallpaper of the game recently..

The Snes version is better by a country mile, graphically,Sound and atmosphere wise too.I think the MD version is poor and is even bettered by the Master System version which plays slightly better and the ripley sprite is better on the sms version too.But the worst thing of all with the Sega versions is the way aliens materialize out of the stone floor to attack you which is quite frankly lame.
Meh, I rather like cinematic styled scores in games . . . at least when it's fitting to the game style. Orchestral-styled "cinematic" arrangements in Air/Space combat sims are a classic combination that work very well IMO. For other genres . . . kind of hit and miss TBH.
For Alien 3, the style of the SNES music doesn't really matter, since Matt Furniss's compositions/arrangements are just so awesome that it blows that crap away regardless. :p
Oh, but how about Alien 3 SMS vs NES? ;)
Look like all 4 games were developed by Probe too. Furniss did the SMS music too . . . awesome my SMS standards too. Not sure about the NES version . . . definitely has that Euro-Chiptune style, but I'm going to say it's not Furniss. (has a different feel to it)
^Only at the very end, after the alien died.
I have the NES version on my wanted list, now.
Has anyone here played it? I imagine it's is like the Genesis version, only less-so.
I played both Alien 3 (also Game Boy one too!) and the Megadrive version was much more fun inmo. While Snes has GREAT sound and graphics, the game is boring as hell after two or three missions, where Megadrive is really fun and had the scary element of the time running out. (Was very well done when times reach zero)
I liked intro of the SNES game a lot, but the rest was highly forgettable. No meaningful music was the main deal breaker. "Atmospheric" usually equals crap for me, and this time it was the case.
