You may not be aware of this, but there was actually a production run of the Sega Saturn control pad made for PS2, and it is AWESOME! Not only is it the correct pad to use for Street Fighter (as opposed to those bulbous Nubytech controllers), but it makes one shed a tear of nostalgia when playing Sega Genesis Collecton on the PS2 when you have an actual Sega controller in your hand. It even labels the buttons with the classic ABCXYZ.
Granted, you have to remap the buttons a little (Z and C are represented by L1 and R1, respectively), but that's a very small price to pay.
I bought one of the SFIV Pads today.... works awesome with the PC!
Those pads are different from that pad pictured above (click on the thumbnail a few posts up). I wouldn't be so sure about the ones on the eBay auction.
No it doesnt. its slightly better than the HRAP3 stock (but $60 more expensive), as it has all sanwa buttons, but you can swap the buttons on the Hori for sanwa buttons and its STILL ~$40 cheaper (the HRAP already has a sanwa JLF stick).
I'll take the Hori, thank you. or even better, the sega virtua stick high grade, which is all sanwa parts, and i got it for less that $100 when it came out a few years ago.
That's because they're different products. The controller I showed is a Sega Saturn controller for PS2, which is why it has both start and select buttons. The ones from the auction, however, are USB controllers that are closer to the original controllers. It appears that both are legit products, but the latter is probably a better deal.
How do you press SELECT on the cheaper ones for games that need it? I imagine that the Ultimate Genesis Collection uses SELECT for some sort of menu.
That was my next question. Also how would you access the crossbar menu on the PS3? You know, to at least be able to quit the game or something without having to use a different controller.
I ordered the top of the line stick at 150 and can't wait to use it. Plan on using it for DC vs mk and also on the new tekken when it hits. I need this game so bad right now as I have nothing to play (sick of Rock band and GH)
Anybody know how the "Street Fighter IV Round 2" pads are?
Nice artwork, but how's the compatibility between the Xbox & PS3 versions? Same hardware inside as the first ones? Anybody get either of them running on PC without issue?
I have a Zangief Round 2 pad, but haven't opened it, since I finally found a place to buy a PS2 to 360 converter (for $30, but it requires a wired 360 pad)
My friends had round 1 pads that all broke within a week.
If you're on PS3, there's no excuse not to just get an adapter.
(PS2 to PS3 adapters are very cheap, and easily findable...and I have an Xbox to PS2 adapter for my own Xbox S Controller, so using multiple adapters works too)
Like, this one for the Sega Genesis http://www.raphnet-tech.com/products/atari2usb/ Let's you play with a 6 button controller, works on PC too of course. Supports the mode button as a button.
For Sega Saturn, just searching for one second, not really trying...you can get this Retro Kit, to make your own Saturn to USB converter. http://www.retrousb.com/product_info...products_id=50
Which of course will work on PS3 as well as PC.
