There is no denying it, considering the time and the limitations of the hardware, Doom Troopers is a pretty gory game. However, unlike the unutterably lame Splatterhouse series, this game uses its goriness to simple effect. It livens up and gives some character and humour to what is otherwise a fairly standard side scrolling platform/adventure game.
splatterhouse was a great series compared to this turd. The nes game offers more humour as well, featuring zombies doing the "thriller dance" with dracula and other whacky things.
This is a fun 2 player game!
Is it just me or does a lot of the scenery in those screenshots look like Donkey Kong Country? :daze:

i got pretty far once but i enede up in this one stage where some guy was throwing bones and the pile kept getting huge and he woudlnt thake any damage and i was ended

So which version is better, snes or sega? I've notice the sega version is expensive.
This game is a USA exclusivity but I think it is average. The real positive point about it is a 2 players mode.
Digital graphics aged bad (as the majority of games concerned). Hard to find a complete copy with poster and card.
There is better games in the genre as Contra, Batman & Robin and Gunstar Heroes.
I don't normally express strong opinions until I've beaten a game, but I'm about halfway through Doom Troopers and I've gotta say, this one kind of sucks. No way it deserves 8/10; based on what I've seen so far, it's 3/10, or 4/10 at best.
Ugly graphics, unappealing aesthetic, flaky controls, grating sounds, annoying "Hi, I'm a mid-'90s action platformer" jerky scrolling, unsatisfying weapons (except the flamethrower), aggravating enemy behavior, repetitive stage design, poorly-conceived difficulty curve, a 2P mode that doesn't really work, near-invisible mines in the second stage, wildly inconsistent hit detection in the first boss fight, a continue system that makes no sense given that passwords don't store your number of lives/continues in reserve...shall I go on?
This is not a good game. No way this is an 8/10. Most of the levels are just reskins of the first level. The design is lame. Sure the gore can be amusing for a second and the character with 2 pistols more fun than the other choice but overall the game is not fun to play. Music is terrible. Cheap kills abound. Definitely not worth the price of admission nowadays. 5/10 and I’m being generous.
