Nice use of Gradius II there(my favorite Famicom Gradius game, own a copy :D). It's a nice piece of Japanese Nintendo history. As is MN12BIRD's original Famicom.

Yeah like those ones they sold in the USSR? I forget the name but I've seen them before.
No I understand that but its not filled top to bottom either. I filmed in 4:3 but uploaded a 16:9 output by accident.
Not really but I know what you mean I have an NES 2 (Toploader) and this Famicom doesn't creak nearly as bad as they do.
So let me get this straight... JFLY's NES2 is an AV Famicom, meaning it has Audio/video line out? The US version is RF only. Shafted again!
LOL I know eh! They took a big step back on the NES 2 in that regards. Nice thing about the NES 2 is there is no 10NES chip in there and it can play PAL games.
Saved from having to give the "NES Blow Job", but forced to use shitty RF.
LOL still if I had to choose an original NES or an NES2 I would still take the original. AV output just wins plus the original even puts out a cleaner picture on RF! I mean you can always disable the 10NES chip or replace the 72-pin connector (If you absolutely must) but adding AV out to the NES2 I would imagine would be much harder.
What is interesting is The original seems to work better than the top loader. At least mine does. My friend's does as well. He had a hard time getting games to run in his NES 2 but they almost worked the 3rd time or better in his O.G. NES. I love the term O.G. even though I have no clue what it stands for. Yay!
I have 2 NES systems. 1 has a new 72-pin connector in there so it works almost every time but it grabs the games with much force and may not be as good for them in the long run. In fact it grabs them so hard you can run them without pushing the game down into its locked position! But the best part is my other system has REALLY loose pins, looser than any other NES I've ever felt (literally the game would fall in and out of place by dropping it in from about 3" on a 45 deg angle!) yet it works BANG on every single time. I wonder if the 10NES chip has been disabled on this system I have? That or its a really good production run! Something about it is unlike any other NES I've seen (and I've had plenty of them!) I would say it works better than my NES2. The toploader works most of the time but not every damn time, first try, no questions asked like my nice NES does!
wait, you can hear the audio from the mic at all times? cool! I didn't know that...
AV Famicoms are bad ass, I wouldn't mine getting one of those and using a converter for US games. On that note, is it possible to just yank the A/V stuff out of a Famicom and put it in the RF-only US version, or is there some solder or different layout preventing it?
yep, total bullshit! Thanks Nintendo! another job well done! almost as good as Super Gameboy, Virtual Boy, N64, Yellowing SNES 1, and the original 72-pin connector! In a related story, fuck Nintendo hardware, seriously. How did Sega ever lose to them when the Genesis, Sega CD (at least model 2), Saturn, 32X, and Master System are some of the most reliable systems out there? I would include the Dreamcast in my list, but "some people" have "problems" with them (funny how my september 99 example works PERFECTLY).
That's the first I've heard of that, hmmm, the NES 2 must've had a rough life. O.G.=original gangster
Disabling the 10NES chip doesn't do anything that drastic. The two boot problems are either A) the reset loop (which is the 10NES) or B) graphical garbage, which is a poor electrical contact between the game and connector, period. I find the consistency of 72-pin connectors isn't very good, so it is possible you got one that just happened to have all the pins very well aligned.
Hey now, my DC works like shit! Of course the guy I bought it from probably had his backpack slapped against the wall of the house it got stolen from so I'm not surprised. Agreed though on the quality of the NES and SNES, what the hell? My Genesis has to be the most reliable electronic device I've ever had to deal with for 15 or so years, next to a Space Jam Tiger Handheld I found in an alley one time. My Model 1 Sega CD has had a few hiccups but even that still works like a champ.
GameCube's are tanks though from my travels, and I've never heard about N64's giving up the ghost so maybe those days are behind them?
I LOL'd when I read that. Gangbangers are funny (and pathetic). What constitutes one being original?Quote:
