Virtua Fighter

I'm going to round out my Saturn collection with a few good dirt-cheap games (e.g. I've already decided to get Sega Rally).

I used to have Virtua Fighter 2 on Saturn and it was pretty fun, even though I'm essentially a button masher and don't understand the game at all. In fact, I don't understand fighting games in general. I might put the time in to figure it out sooner or later though.

So, which one to get? Make me a decision: Virtua Fighter or Virtua Fighter 2?

(Edit: or even 3 for Dreamcast, or 4 for PS2, as these are both under a fiver too)

Virtua Fighter 1 for me.

I`m going with Virtua Fighter 1 as well as it was the first 3d fighter I played.

And good to see you have no problems with admitting that you are a button masher!:D

The Saturn version of VF1 sucked. Even the 32X version was better. If it's the remix, it's okay, but not the original. If it's the original, go for VF2 instead.

I've played them both and I like them both, but I think that Virtua Fighter 2 is better.

Virtua Fighter 2, beautiful high-res graphics, much better to play, more fun with friends.

If I want a VF1 experience I'll fire up the 32X every time.

Have you considered Fighters Megamix? all the characters plus a shed load more from fighting vipers and other games, one of my fav fighters on the saturn.

The Saturn version of VF 1 sucked. Not to mention that VF 2 was really the one that revolutionized 3d fighters.

Best Virtual Fighter I ever played was VF4 on the PS2 but if you need one for one of your older systems I would get VF3 for Dreamcast just because its polished and smooth.

Despite the three AC adapters and downgraded graphics, I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy Virtua Fighter on the 32X.

3xAC adapters = 3x the fun :D

One adapter for the Mega Drive, one adapter for the 32X, one adapter for... the other two adapters?

if you don't understand fighting games, you just haven't played any good ones. Try:

Fatal Fury 3
Real Bout Fatal Fury
Real Bout Fatal Fury Special
Real Bout Fatal Fury 2
King of Fighters (any will do, I recommend 96)

I find those to be the most balanced and best made fighting games from a functional gameplay standpoint, not a fan service or flash standpoint (everything from Capcom after SF II Turbo).

Battle Arena Toshinden 2 is still better, still the only 3D fighter I actually enjoy playing.

Virtua Fighter 1 isn't nearly as good as VF2.

And uh... Toshinden sucks.

Virtua Fighter was technically better, but Toshinden was more FUN.
