LOL. VF 2 was a breakthrough in 3D fighting games. It runs at a solid 60 FPS on the model 2 hardware.
Toshinden is an unresponsive pile of junk. The soundtrack is pretty rockin' though.

Toshinden was a flashy flash in the pan that fizzled out after BAT2. The original did wonders for the PS1's early sales/reputation though, but not too long after the PS1 port of Tekken came out......then came out VF2 for the Saturn, then came out the PS1 port of "Tekken 2" in Japan..........it was soon over for the shallow Toshinden.
Toshinden was the obligatory launch title that everyone played because it looked good and they didn't have anything else to play. Doesn't compare to VF.
They're making a new Toshinden for the Wii btw. It looks TERRIBLE.
If you want to play VF1 on the Saturn, then get VF Remix. Other good 3D fighting games on the Saturn are Dead Or Alive and Last Bronx.
Saturn DoA is excellent, and despite all the hate it gets I really enjoy Last Bronx.
None 3D Fighter wise King of Fighters series and Nightwarriors are the way to go IMHO.
Vampire Savior and X-Men vs. Street Fighter imo
I'd say to also go for vanilla VF1 for historical sake, and because it was the Saturn's first-ever game, but the Model 1 coin-op VF1 has recently been emulated on MAME, almost perfectly, so if you have a good enough PC you can fire that up and see what VF1 is really supposed to look like.
You're behind in the times man. Model 2 is up and running almost perfect now.
I'll need to check that out. Last I tried that Model 2 Emu by the people behind Nebula it was a pain to work with. Mmm, VF2.....
HOTD, Dynamite Cop, Daytona, etc
All good stuff.
If you've got a PS2 try Rumble Roses. Not because it's a great fighter or anything, but, just 'cuz. ;)
I say go with VF2. It has the highly underrated Shun Di!
