Favorite bosses on the Genesis

What are your favorite bosses on the Genesis? I love big and cool looking bosses that push the system. Bosses that have a cool design and a good pattern to overcome. Here's my choices (no specific order):

Sludge Monster - Shinobi III

This is one of the most classic boss on the Genesis IMO. He's simply pretty cool looking!

Basketball Player - Battle Mania II

This boss is rather simple, buy you have to admit that he's pretty cool! The pattern is really simple, but it's fun to block his shot when he tries to dunk.

Death - Gaiares

I love this one just for the strangeness... What a cool looking dude:)

Spinderella - Dynamite Headdy

Talk about an impressive boss! This boss can take all the environnement and rotate it! An impressive effect you have to see!

Train - Rocket Knight Adventures

A simple boss but I always liked it.

Xi-Tiger - Alien Soldier

This boss fight is pure fun and the music when the fight start is LEGENDARY!

Seven Force - Gunstar Heroes

The mine stage is my favorite in Gunstar Heroes, and the Seven Force boss is my favorite boss of the game. You have to beat 5 different forms in a random order out of 7. My favorite forms are the first one, and the one when he tranforms into a tiger.

Scientist Boss - Contra Hard Corps

Another impressive boss from Contra Hard Corps. A lot of you probably never saw it because you have to take a specific path. When I saw the two-legged machine walking on the wall and then on the celling for the first time, it was crazy! And it still is!

Stage 5 Boss - Eliminate Down

This boss is all about the pattern, how you have to position yourself just right to avoid the lasers his arm throw! I also love the feeling of being trapped in a small room with a big boss. Pure gaming bliss!

Stage 7 Boss - Thunder Force IV

Another boss I like because you feel trapped with him in a narrow rom. This one is quick and pretty fun! I love when he tries to headbutt you!

Godzilla - The Revenge Of Shinobi

The Godzilla boss and the stage before you get to him, represent the best part of Revenge Of Shinobi for me. The climax of the stage with the big waves in front, to finally arrive in a hangar where Godzilla is, it's amazing!

River Boss - Contra Hard Corps

This boss reminds me of the Seven Force in Gunstar Heroes. My favorite attack to dodge is the one from the second form, when the boss tries to hit you with his pinch.

Wolfgunblood Garopa - Alien Soldier

The most impressive boss on the Genesis period! The first time I saw him, even if he completely kicked my ass, I was not angry or anything, I was simply amazed and stunned from the sight! "The horse" take almost all the screen and move so smoothly!

An interesting look through, I think some of my favourites are obviously seven force and the 1st level boss of Thunder Force IV, the bit in Rocket Knight Adventure where you have to run to get into the mech and for one that nobody else cares about I like the fire engine boss in Rolo to the rescue

Sorry for not posting pics/videos to illustrate my point but here it goes:

Some cool bosses on the Genesis (I won't mention the ones that have already been pointed out):

1) That dude in the armored jet suit in stage 3 of ESWAT. It's cool how he jets around trying to kill you.

2) That awesome wooden marionette in Dynamite Headdy that dons different costumes and dances as you fight it.

3) The one-eyed giant mech thing in stage 1 of Contra: Hard Corps that throws cars at you.

4)The giant space battleship in Stage 6 of Rocket Knight Adventures.

Genesis games are not only fun to play but beautiful as this topic points out. :D

here s the boss i like the most

gynoug the second boss the ship keep shootong until the head comes up i really like the visuals

castlevania last boss of the last stage i like it keep hitting on him and you see him falling apart

ghouls and ghost i love the first boss even when i was a child and look t the box cover my fantasy was going wild how about how cool it looked a knight with a dragon head

Yamato from BK3/SOR3 - Because people talk about how hard he is and he's actually a wuss x3.

My all time favorite boss is Robotnik from Metropolis zone.

My favorite boss fight on any genesis game would have to be the teddy bear from the third stage in splatterhouse 3.
It took me so long to beat that stage but i never got tired of that fight.

That first boss on Revenge of Shinobi is hard as hell. I am constantly getting raped by him when I fight him. How on earth do people get by that boss without giving up on the game. http://www.systemwars.com/forums/ima.../icon_down.gif

Close in, see him draw his sword and pull back immediately. Then jump up and throw a shuriken in his head. Rinse, lather, repeat.

When I was a child, I used to find him rather scary and threatening. Plus his giant sprite begged for attention, taking up 1/4th of the screen like that.

When I was younger I didn't exactly have many of what you would call... technologically impressive titles. I didn't even have any Sonic games until I got the Sonic and Garfield collection... for PC.
