In my experience, most certainly yes. I can get about halfway through MBM without too much trouble and actually managed to finish the game once, while with Puyo Puyo I run into serious problems at the third stage already.
which versions are you talking about? I usually do way better on the arcade version of Puyo Puyo than I do on Dr. Robotniks Mean Bean Machine. Then again, Puyo Puyo tends to ramp up whereas Dr. Robotnik's difficult is more linear.
All I know is that Mean Bean Machine is really hard. After the fourth level, the enemies are way too fast and good, I can only beat them with luck. Just wondering, wasn't the game Kirby's Avalanche for SNES basically the same as well?
It would have been nice if Sega adopted DiC's Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog series to an actual game back then, and made a release for Saturn. That show was mad crazy and still is a hoot to watch it now that people have uploaded episodes of it on Youtube.
I agree. The plot of which could have revolved around Sonic running around the world like a total spaz, stuffing his mouth full of chili dogs everywhere he goes. Robotnik tries to take over the world, but Sonic thwarts him by defeating every badnik in the way simply in order to get to move past them to the next stash of chili dogs. If you collect all the chaos chili dogs, you get the bad indigestion ending.

...that's no good.
There was the prototpe game based on the other DiC Sonic series, the CBS SatAM one. Kind of a 2.5D sidescrolling platformer+beat 'em up, at least that's what the prototype showed. For the Genesis, not Saturn, but interesting nonetheless. (and graphically impressive, particularly for a prototype) Some people dislike the slow moving nature of what was shown on the Demo, personally I like it, and the creator said he'd always planned to have some fast moving levels mixed in too.
Seeing as the AoSTH only lasted one season (thogh with over 60 episodes as it was a weekday show) with DiC dropping it to focus on the more complex and plot+animation demanding SatAM show it mad more sense to make a game for the latter. (somewhat ironicly the SatAM's cancellation after season 2 was in part due to the higher production costs)
On a personal note I grew up with the syndicated AoSTH, in fact I think that was my introduction to Sonic (I never had a Sega console growing up), and I'm still a bit fond of it. The SatAM one obviously is much higher production quality, with original plot, good writing, and much better animation quality though I only saw 1 or 2 episodes on the air. Honestly though while neither is failthful to Sega's creation, I think AoSTH is a lot closer to the game than the CBS series. (though the creators would probably be more offended by AoSTH, inless they had a good sense of perspective and humor for these types of things) I still prefer both to the Anime movie (especially the English dub) or SonicX. (ESPECIALLY the 4kids dub)

I always liked AoStH better than SatAM. It just seemed more faithful to the games, had that zany and funny feel. SatAM was darker and had more of a plotline. I grew up with AoStH though so maybe I'm biased.
:lawl:
I think the SatAM one apealed more to an older audience, I was very young at the time, and as I mentioned AoSTH is what I grew up with too, so maybe I'm biased towards it. (though I didn't grow up with Sega other than a few PC ports) It's kind of weird, I was a fan of the Mega Man TV series (wich was a joint US/Japan production, different than many other video game shows), but I didn't have any Mega Man games for my NES.
I honestly kind of like the idea of a AoSTH themed game, but I doubt the general fanbase would have liked the idea. (a FMV Sega CD game would be a double insult though!)
SatAM otoh had (and still does, along with the comic series) a cult fan status, as well as a pretty decent general fanbase. (though I beleive AoSTH was pretty popular too, though without the cult status and a different age group and target audience)
If nothing else, I think I like some of the Voice acting better fitting (of course Sonic's the same, Jaleel White in underground too), though I generally like AoSTH. But Robotnik's voice I like a lot more, in fact it seems closer to a number of Voice actors used in some of the newer sonic games like Adventure and Advenure 2. (granted the character's a bit different, but I think the same voice would have fit quite well in SatAM) In fact I think I like Gary Chalk's performance in Underground the best. (though I didn't care for the series, it was like a wattered down SatAM with bits of AoSTH mixed in)
Interesting to note though, no matter if you're a fan of either Sonic series of not, you'll probably agree that these shows were a LOT better than many of the Nintendo based cartoons, many also produced by DiC only slightly earlier. (with the possible exception of the SMB World show, there was the Super Show+Zelda, SMB 3, Captain N.... if you thought Mega Man couldn't be portrayed worse than on the US box Art, think again good thing they made up for it with the Mega Man animated series)
And even in the cartoony AoSTH Robotnik is pretty ruthless (I mean in the first episode he's hireing bounty hunters out to kill Sonic), pretty stark compared to Eggman's portrayal in the 4Kids dub in SonicX. Not sure about the original Japanese version ,but there's one point in an episone that makes theis rediculously obvious in the 4kids dub which was parodied quite nicely in contrast of SatAM: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/484130 (at the very end of the video)
It seems to be the same exact game as Avalanche, as I recognize patterns from the first few enemies. Although Avalanche left those three training levels in.
