I also beat Fantasia a long time ago. I find it a very beautiful game despite all the criticism it gets.
Hellfire on HARD with 1 continue. Also beat my share of stinkers such as Cybercop and Dark Castle, which I find to be difficult - and frustrating, much more than Fantasia - as well.
I cannot forget abot Ecco and Kid Chameleon on one sitting. :)

Battle Squadron ain't easy at all.
Zero Wing and Hellfire need some skills as well.
And of course Shadow of the beast 1, that's one of the most obvious choices.
Twin Cobra is another shmup that is hard as hell. It's like Fire Shark in concept with a difficulty multiplied by ten. :o
That's my vote too. Bart's Nightmare and Virtual Bart aren't far behind. Bart Vs. The Space Mutants isn't only hard, it is made worse by atrocious controls and absolutely arbitary, and constantly deadly, puzzles.Quote:

Well, that game varies from level to level. Some are really easy, and others are hard. Overall, it isn't on my list of "hardest" games. The hard parts are often more memorization of patterns than actually being hard. I guess if you have trouble memorizing the patterns, it might wind up in your "hardest" list.Quote:

Seriously, it's bad enough you have the whole hourglass bit combined with some rather abstract levels and ruthless enemies, combine those elements with the fact that should you make it to the final boss, losing to him once means losing the entire game no matter what!
Even worse? Should you beat him, YOU DON'T EVEN GET AN ENDING! XD
