It's all pretty colours and feels like it's been designed focusing on children, plus it's too damn slow and tedious. Both of them are mere shadows compared to the awesomeness of Mario 3. With Mario World 2 having to take baby Mario to the end of the level annoyed me in the same manner Sonic 3D did and, as Joe said, there's that super annoying cry.Quote:

Think Doomsday, only fought over Internet forums. Nintendo vs. SEGA, Defcon One.Quote:

How about the great SNES vs. Genesis matchups, like these:
Genesis RPGs vs. SNES RPGs
Mario vs. Sonic
Contra III vs. Contra Hard Corps.
Who do you think won these battles?
I'd say SNES RPGs, Mario, and Contra Hard Corps. were winners. Any other match ups to be considered?
I'd say Mega Drive RPGs, Sonic and Contra Hard Corps.
I'd say Genesis RPG's, Sonic... and no further opinion.
I'd say Genesis RPGs (because I enjoyed Phantasy Star and Lunar a hell of a lot more than Final Fantasy and Crono Trigger), Mario vs Sonic = tie (neither of them are that great), and Contra III.
Tough.
In the RPG arena, you have Final Fantasy, Zelda, Breath of Fire, and Secret of Mana in one corner, and in the other there's Shining Force, Lunar, Phantasy Star. I'd say that's a pretty even match.
And Mario and Sonic are like apples and oranges. One places heavy emphasis on precision timing and jumps, the other more on sheer speed and reflex. It's like comparing Megaman to Metroid. Sure, they're both platformers starring robot-esque individuals that shoot things and have modular abilities, but one is a series of grueling stages and the other is a more Zelda-esque adventure game.
And I was never much for Contra.
Long post short, in my mind, the SNES and Genesis are all but equal on the games front. For every excellent and unique game on one, I can think of a game of equivalent enjoyment for myself on the other.
Genesis: Phantasy Star 2,3,4; 2 Lunars; 2? Shinning Forces
SNES: Final Fantsy 2,3; Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Breath of Fire 1,2; Ogre Battle
I may have overlooked some good Genesis RPGs, so please correct me. From the looks of this flawed comparison I would say that SNES came out ahead
Depends on your tastes. I simply could not stand Secret of Mana (that was more of an action RPG wasn't it? I used to own it but sold it fairly quick) and Ogre Battle (though the arranged music from that game was pretty good).
Then there's the problem of how people define RPGs. Some idiots think anything in a fantasy setting qualifies.

hmmm RPG,s defnitly snes
Mario vs sonic,Hard to choose but i think mario overall despite of beeing a sega fan.
Contra hard corps al the way theres no competition between the slow and dull sounding Contra 3 and The awesome Hardcore contra HC.
RPGs: definately SNES
Sonic vs Mario : Sonic 1 was innovative, but the rest of the series lacked new ideas, so I guess Mario wins.
Super Probotector vs Probotector : the Mega Drive wins, great graphics and effects on both systems, but the MD-version has 4 playable characters, a storyline and non-linear gameplay.
