Personally I miss characters with a real personality of their own in most Genny RPGs I´ve played. They tend to be more defined by their skills and attributes, and that results in a weaker storyline where characters are not really involved. Exceptions of this are PS 4, Shining Force and Lunar. But still none of these games´ characters have the charm of the casts of FF 6, Chrono Trigger, Breath of Fire 2, Dragon Quest 6 or Star Ocean. I´d say most Genny RPGs are a bit more oldschool than the SNES games, making them less addictive. PS 4 for example is quite good, but it has flaws like the very standard battle system and the way all characters learn their skills just by leveling up, with no freedom of character developement at all.

This is a website dedicated to the Genesis after all, so it was to be expected to meet fans of every aspect of the Genesis´library here. But still I think for most players who are not dedicated Sega-fans the SNES RPGs with all their unique ideas and features are more attractive.:lawl: I think people remember them much better for a good reason...the fun they were to play.
