Because Nintendo does the same thing so successfully? Suckers like me always fall for it. I think I'll hold off on this redesign though. If I can get the exact same game's experience using my old fat PSP and a large memory card, then I really don't see the need. For the love of god, why didn't they just add an anlog nub?! I would've been sold.
Sony just fractured their market.
How 'sweet'.
So when my fist full of UMD titles wear out the flaky drive in my un-modable PSP-2K, I guess I'm 'officially' SOL.
You know what, 'fuck it.' I'm not buying from Sony ever again, their hardware policies, software choices, and retarded ignorance to fans, has done nothing but irritate me at best anyway
They're lucky they strung me along this far though, after the 'root kit fiasco'
I personally hate the idea of download-only games for a dedicated gaming system. With the iPhone/iPod I can understand it since the games were almost an afterthought (at first).
But a system that plays games I can't even see or touch and yet still have to pay full price for? Nonsense. I hope Sony flounders miserably with this thing, and I hope Nintendo and Microsoft take notice.
That Kojima Flash Countdown bullshit is still running.
Showed the number 5 when looking at it, If 'metal gear solid 5' is coming out, the world is doomed. Is there any franchise not getting raped these days?
Fuck, I'd be happier seeing a Novel adapted into an 8-bit Point-and-Click-Adventure at E3 than another metal gear title.
Any predictions on titles for the 500 shitty Sonic sequels Sega will undoubtedly announce this year?
SNATCHER!!! I was really hoping the"5" flashing on the countdown kojima has was actually a "S" for a new Snatcher game, but now it looks like its just going to be another MGS :(
The new PSP is kinda ugly too don't you guys think? Too many circles or something I can't quite peg it. I'm not *completely* opposed to download-only titles, although I'm fairly positive that it won't work out well. Plus no matter how well Sony conveys the fact to consumers that there won't be physical game releases, people still won't get it. They'll get it home and go "OMG where do I get gaems for this thing?"
Eventually though everything is going to be download only, so while people can hope that this fails, it's still inevitable in the future.
My gripes with Sony are the fact that they're rebooting the PSP hardware itself too often, without tapping into customer demand. Only a few weeks ago the ability to 'Have music in multiple folders' was implemented... WTF?
Now they're removing UMD support? :bang:
It's clear they're relying on the incremental hardware adjustments to justify keeping the higher price tag.
No, I say save it for the 'PSP 2' at least then you'll likely have a touch screen, and maybe the secondary analog nub people seem hellbent on wanting for no good reason.
This seems another chapter in Sony's ever persistent trek towards a legendary "Osborne Effect". Somebody should call Sony and say: "Hey, Microsoft exists you know! They are a threat."
Think of your favorite FPS, get ready to play it, then tie one hand behind your back. Thats how its feel to play an FPS game on the PSP.Quote:

How does Sony plan to "support retail sales" if that thing doesn't even play retail games? Great way to tell those who buy used games "go fuck yourself, buddy!" Also a great way to kill availability of old titles and limit people to whatever they choose to post for download at the time.
I pirate games mostly because game companies hate us. This is just another example of how much they hate their customers. I won't buy digital downloads, simply because I like getting a physical copy, and I like being able to sell off things I PAID FOR if I get sick of them.
