I still have to make a Youtube video of the Retrogen....I've been so lazy lately.
If anyone is looking for a cart case, I found a seller on ebay that has some 15 cart cases that were originally made for the Nomad. They seem to only put one up at a time, but as soon as I ordered one they had another posted. It costs 8 bucks:

Thats pretty good Gohan. I've been using a Game Gear case and that has been working out quite well.
I've been using an camera bag. It's Got room for my Retrogen and about 5-6 carts in there.

Kind of Like this ^ but much smaller

This is my bag. In fact, it has the Retrogen in it, in the picture.
I'm a little late getting my Retrogen so my impressions might not be news, but I'll give a direct comparison between the Retrogen, the Nomad, and a PSP using Picodrive. I've been playing the Retrogen for about half an hour with Sonic 1, Castlevania Bloodlines, Streets of Rage 2, SF2 SCE, and Mortal Kombat 2.
Size/design: It's friggin small! It's a good size for my hands, slightly smaller than a PSP but about 3 times as thick. Cartridges slide easily in and out, but the cart isn't loose like the Nomad sometimes is. I'm not crazy about the D pad, but as someone else said you need to play it like an original 3 button pad. The only real issue I had was pulling special moves in Street Fighter 2, using Ryu I could do dragon punches, but I had a heck of a time doing fireballs. I could do them, however. I didn't have any trouble with Mortal Kombat though, all specials and fatalities that I tried went off without a hitch. I might see if I can do some kind of mod to the D pad to make the directions have more resistance or something, kinda like the PSP's dpad mod.
I expected to hate the button layout with it's odd angle, but I was easily able to play anything, I guess I'm used to it from playing GBA games on the DS. I wish the buttons were slightly larger though, in Castlevnia Bloodlines and SOR2 I map A as special, B attack and C jump. I can play with my thumb over B and C but I have to lift it to get to A. No big deal though. I'll be interested to see if the Gen Mobile's controls are any better, although I doubt anything will feel as nice as the Nomad's D pad and buttons.
Screen: This screen looks nice. Maybe it's just because I've been playing a lot of PSP lately on the max brightness, but the screen isn't quite as bright as I'd like. If you have played the Gameboy SP's, it's brighter than the old model SP, but not as bright as the new model. However, the clarity is EXCELLENT. It's so much better than the Nomad it's ridiculous, I'm not sure if I can even go back to playing it now. Compared to the PSP (original model BTW) it's not as bright, but it is clearer and has less LCD blurriness. It's also worth noting that the Retrogen displays at the proper resolution, so you don't get the added blurriness of graphical filters that you get playing the PSP in full screen mode. The PSP does have a huge edge in screen size though.
Sound: Here is where the Retrogen comes in last place. As we all know, the sound isn't that good. I was a little disappointed in the fact that it always outputs mono sound, even if you have headphones hooked up. There is also some distortion with the headphone jack if you have it turned pretty loud, but the Nomad does that too. Between the other two other systems, the Nomad of course sounds the best since it has the original sound chip, but Picodrive does an excellent job in most games as well, and the headphone jack on the PSP is pretty good for outputting sound to a good set of headphones.
Overall, I'm quite happy, and it works well as a Nomad replacement. I really can't forsee any time now where I would use the Nomad instead of the Retrogen, except for playing Street Fighter 2 or the games that are incompatible with the Retrogen. I'll take this thing everywhere, while the Nomad is probably going to go into storage now. That being said, I do hope someone makes a better version, and I'll keep my eyes peeled on info about the Gen Mobile when it comes out.
*edit* I hooked up some better headphones, and there is no distortion when playing at maximum volume. I guess it was just my earbuds that couldn't take the power. The volume of the music was a bit higher than without headphones, and the system put out a decent amount of bass.
Well m8's my RetroGen has arrived...........And I love it!!!!!!!
Tried it with a few games and all works fine.
Sound: well it has a very small speaker!!
Screen: only one word says it all : PERFECT!!!!!
Size: just about right
Built in games: Well it's more a bonus than a selling point!? But it's nice they are there!
All in all a very nice little device for traveling and anywhere else the Genesis/MegaDrive is not possible to use.
Thanks sid!!!!!!
Your very welcome Hobby! Glad you are enjoying it. Did you get any extra goodies in the box?
^ I got a Street Fighter 4 bracelet. It rocks!
AH! ok! So it was a bracelet! The white rubberband I did wonder some about it.......just kidding! nice!
Anyway I like the coin :D, does it have any special purpose?
Perhaps I'll drill a hole in it and attach it to a strap and that to the RetroGen!!! Showing off who I bought it from!
Well, if you're ever in Georgia you can use it in our arcade games!
Super Monaco GP
Special Criminal Investigation
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Sunset Riders
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Killer Instinct
Tetris
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
what's up with the sound??
That's Lloyd after a long round of Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 :D Not impressed with the sound, but otherwise gives it a strong 2 paws up.

I've tried a few games, and I couldn't get NBA Jam TE or Super Street Fighter 2 to work at all. On a more positive note, I believe someone earlier had issues with Castlevania Bloodlines, and my Majesco cart works just fine.
I went to Walmart and found a camcorder bag on clearance that holds the system, 10 games, and all the cables perfectly. Sweet!
I've got a few things that you guys might want to see tomorrow at the Genesis Cup. So keep an eye on the store cam starting at Noon EST. We will be updating the site ALL DAY LONG with all kinds of Genesis stuff!
^Neat.
On another note:
...Oh, who am I kidding. This turned out to be a great case for the Retrogen after all. It holds the system and two carts (one attached to its slot on the handheld):

so the gen mobile will be in stock tomorrow?
Couldn't people just use old Walkman/Cassette bags for this?
Isn't it pretty close to the same size? I know I got one from the early 90s that can be strapped under your jacket like a holster.
I imagine a smaller cassette bag would be nothing of consequence to carry either.
Shit, Lets all flashmob an apple store with retrogens.
We can swap carts all at the same time or something.
Chewbacca has the answer:

CLEARLY sized for Genesis games.
holy crap, I remember watching that-- he got the lifetime achievement award back then, what, 98? 99?
Excellent bandolier.
Well my RetroGen arrived yesterday, in good time as well considering the Post Office are striking at the minute here. Thanks Beastech.
I'm very impressed with the brightness and clarity of the screen, the button layout works better than it looked and I quite like the dpad althouth Street Fighter is fairly unplayable on it.
Does anybody know how the system fairs with games like Golden Axe or Mrs PacMan that required a press of the mode button to get them to work with a six button pad?
Initiating Operation Bring Retrogen to work.........More details after 12pm.
have anyone able try to play the sega master games on the retrogen protable
I tried, it was a no go. (Master System games)
In other news, I have a GEN Mobile to test out! I'll be taking some video footage today and will post it as soon as I can.
I hope you can test out the games that we listed that doesn't work, like nba jam t.e. and others.
The retrogen was a let down for me. I liked the look of the gen mobile much more so heres hoping it plays better....That would be a good win-win for me....
I'm looking forward to see the Gen Mobile compatibility as well (EA games)......
....
...
The compatibility seems to be the same so far. You guys want to throw together a list real quick and I'll try those out for you. Still editing the video together.
Ok here's my list:
NBA Jam Tournament Edition
NBA Live 95, 96 or 97 (can you get past the menu?)
World Series 95 (can you get a game to start?)
MK3 or Ultimate MK3 - can you do the moves? (like subzero shooting ice and stuff)
Virtua Racing (does this ever work on clones?)
WWF Royal Rumble (does X,Y,Z work when you play the game?)
