Is my SEGA CD, model 2 broke?

So, I hooked up my SEGA CD model 2 system the other day to my Genesis Model 1 HDG, and it wasn't reading CD's. The CD spins, but that's it. I took it apart and triggered the close door mechanism, the laser beam stays on while the laser mechanism bounces. Do I have a dead laser? :confused:

are you using the correct official SEGA CD adapter? I had problems like that when I tried to use a universal AC on the SEGA CD.

I have a Sega Genesis AC adapter. It always worked before.

It very well could be the lazer mechanism... That's always been the case with my Sega CD units. I have about 3 of them and all but one of them works and it largely due to a broken CD reader.
