I really liked Res 4, but the 5th one is just boring.:daze:
I loved Res 1, 2, 3, and code Veronica, but the 5th one just feels like its missing something.

I didn't get the chance to pick it up yet but I heard its a bit off. I wish they would have went back to the original format.
I definitely don't think it sucked, but it was disappointing. Aside from the graphics (RE5's visuals are fantastic) RE4 has it beat in every regard: control, atmosphere, fear/fun factor, and Leon is SO much cooler than Chris.
The only part I really liked was how much of a focus it brought back to the core Resident Evil storyline, in spite of how clunky it often was. It seemed to wrap the series up with a nice element of finality.
They tried to make it too much like a modern American shooter IMO
The game did not feel like a Resident Evil game at all. Only one part did in one of the facilities where there was lickers all caged up..waiting to bust out at the right moment.
I still got to pick it up though. Did the PC version of it come out yet?
Not played it personally, but RE4 was always going to be a tough act to follow.
Exactly. That "something missing" was atmosphere. It's still a really good game, better than similar big-name releases like Metal Gear 4, but not nearly as classic as RE4. That's what happens when you have a second character by your side 90% of the time, and most of the game is set in daylight.
It's terrible! It's like they didn't think it through at all. I mean, the graphics are amazing, but the overall gameplay is so close ended. They're really going way too far into the videogame/movie hybrid.
I just can't get over how short it is either. Incredible, you spend money on a game and it doesn't last at all. I've been trying to beat Adventure Island for 20 years and I'm still working on it.
I actually enjoyed it.. playing Co-op was something i was wanting in a RE game since RE2was released... had more fun with it then 4..but i have a very soft spot for the PS1 games...
Yes, but everyone seems to praise Batman:AA is a great play through atleast twice to get all items and giving atleast a rental status. I'm still waiting on the PC version so can't say personally. I've read some about RE5 and most say it ain't very good. I can say the benchmark of RE5 runs great on my PC though LOL. It not out on PC yet as well AFAIK.
This reminds me I need to beat RE3 to get the ending since I was at end Nemisis stage a long time ago but lost my savestate and never played it again. Also have RE4 to start on PS2. Too many games to play!
Just playing the devil's advocate here: has Adventure Island taken you that long to beat because it's literally a 20-year game or because of its difficulty? Try bumping RE5 up to it's highest difficulty setting and see how long it takes to play through it.
Out of curiousity, what does everyone think the "acceptable" amount of time a $60 game should take to play through these days? Some people would rather their games require a 30+ hour investment of time, while many others would rather the game last 5-10 hours and have a lower barrier of entry for future playthroughs.
I paid $30 for Klonoa, which is honestly a 3 hour game, but I'd gladly have paid $50 for it. It's all about quality. Some of the "lengthiest" games I've played had tacked on quests to prolong the game. Then again, games like Final Fantasy Tactics, in which the length of the game is determined by how dedicated YOU are, are fantastic.
For me, I think 5-8 hours is a good length. A good, focused run that doesn't take more than a week to get through initially (providing that you only play for an hour or two an evening), while also encouraging replay.
RE4 is a perfect example of this.
