Anyone else pumped about Lords of Shadow?
I saw a bigger scan of that and was very pleased with the art style. Too bad the game is based on Castlevania Adventure though.
Maybe the developer will make a couple of changes (like adding the secondary weapons for one) to make it more closer to the original.
Yeah, I'd like a new game as well, not a god damn remix.
I don't get all the complaints.
More than likely it will be an entirely new game, focusing on Christopher Belmont.
Unless its a Metroidvania/Castleroid, I doubt we'll ever see an all-new, 2D CV platformer.
The original Castlevania Adventure was an acquired taste; I along with most of everyone else was turned off by its sluggishness, difficulty and repetitiveness. Eventually I got to "learn" the game and damn near memorized it like the back of my hand, beating it several times. It was a decent game at best. The sequel COMPLETELY blows it out of the water though, and has one of the best 8-Bit soundtracks I've ever heard of. Better than MANY NES soundtracks I've heard.
The recent famitsu article shows that it's ditching the Metroid gameplay mechanics.

Though Konami still has yet to officially announce Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth for WiiWare, the title has shown up on the ESRB's database, Nintendo's release calendar and now in Famitsu ... with full release details. We're going to go ahead and call "case closed" on this one.
As the name suggests, the new game is a "concept remake" of Castlevania: The Adventure for Game Boy; a game that desperately needed to be remade. ReBirth will have new enemies and altered level designs -- most notably, stairs have been implemented to replace the ropes from the Game Boy game. It'll also have new arrangements of classic Castlevania music. Like the other ReBirth games, this one is going for a faithful 16-bit look.
ReBirth will be out in Japan on October 27 for 1,000 Wii Points. Nintendo's calendar gave it a "Q3 2009" date for North America, so it could be out here by Halloween as well!
Stairs, and altered level designs.
Win/10
I think if anything, a "Rebirth" should be given to what is arguably the worst game in any series. It's a way for developers (Konami, in this case) to say, "Alright, this is the game we meant to give you guys. No hard feelings, right?"
So far, I haven't gotten any of the other neo-retro games that have come out lately, but I'll definitely be slapping down the $10 for this one.
Who knows, maybe Konami's [hopefully successful] efforts of late will even inspire Capcom to continue dusting off some of their older franchises ...like Gargoyle's FUKKIN Quest
I personally don't care how bad the first game sucked.
It's probably only using the Christopher Belmont storyline which also was used in some comic books not too long ago.
It would be awesome if it comprised both GB titles into one big long 16-bit title, it better be up for Halloween
They should at least throw up Bloodlines for the Genesis VC too. :ok:
Well, even if it is an Adventure remake, I'll likely still get it. The graphics look much better than those of Contra and Gradius Rebirth.
I wish the GameBoy was powerful enough to do stairs instead of ropes, but the hardware limitations meant that stairs could never be displayed and used. Maybe with a Super FX chip or something...
How about A Boy and His Blob? Maybe when it's $30 or less?
Sounds like they're improving upon the original. And since I never played the original, it'll be new to me. I really like Konami's direction with the ReBirth titles, hopefully Sega and Capcom will follow suit.
It's a Castlevania game that's not a Metroidvania. I'll take it.
I actually kind of liked the Castlevania Adventure on GB.
Oh, absolutely. Maybe a $20 or less, though
See, they've already started with Bionic Commando and Mega Man 9. They just need to dust off a few more games from that era. :)
QUIT PLAYING GAMES WITH MY HEAD, MELF!!!!!!
