I don't understand why anyone would use iPhone's games as a reference for anything. Despite its simplicity of development and low game prices, the iPhone game market is a money pit that is on a fast track to crashing unless Apple gets off its ass and does something. One sale for every three games pirated? Only 13%-21% of 3 billion apps downloaded last year were actually paid for? Yeah, that's how things should work.

iPhone is running systems like the Wii out of the market because anyone with an iPhone already has the hardware vs. shelling out an extra $200 for a Wii and then shelling out $50 per game instead of $1-10 for a game. Many iPhone games are supporting local and sometimes even online multi-player as well, further killing Wii's market hold on "casual gaming." The reason so many iPhone games are pirated is because people with jailbroken phones just download any and everything like we do with ROMs. Do people download complete ROM sets? you bet. Has anyone paid for EVERY SINGLE Wii VC game? fuck no.

Defeat? First off, the iPhone is not a video game system. For the iPhone to even make a dent in the market is a HUGE thing. Smartphone gaming is the fastest growing segment of video games, and it's just going to increase as more and more people get iphones, droids, etc. Nintendo may still be in the game, but eventually people are going to wise up and realize they can get the same thing for less on a device they already have.Quote:

I haven't seen comprehensive figures, but I'd bet that the Wii has the lowest ratio of (non pack-in) software to hardware sales for any Nintendo console. (perhaps not virtual boy)

iphone asside, let's think about Sony. Hmm, if you look at the PS3 alone, thinks don't looks so great in terms of hardware sales (a quite blind comparison), but PS2 sales are (and were moreso earlier int he PS3's life) significant, for a while (and still?) occasionally exceedin PS3 sales. And I'd also bet that MS has taken a much bigger hit with the 360 than Sony has with the PS3. (though there's the PSP there to considder)Quote:

I'm just glad a fair number of games support conventional controls via the GC controller, in fact, I'd prefer that most games did that (even ones that use the remote fairly well like Metroid Prime 3 and Ghostbusters -just for flexibility) After all, a lot of these games could have been handeled on the GC alone fairly easily. (outside of disc storage limitations) And many of them are released on PS2. Sega has been particularly good about this. (Sonic Unleashed would have been really annoying to control without the GC pad)
I've said it before, but SSBB would suck if it hadn't included GC controlls. (Mario Kart Wii too)
If it hadn't been for the GC compatibility and frequent fallback to the controller (albeit not as frequent as it should be -and supporting classic controller but not GC is lame) I would be pretty discruntled with it, maybe downright pissed off, as it is, I'm more dissapointed than anything else.

I watched it too and it did seem as if the little girl was acting from a script, but I believe she was actually plaing with Kinect. As were the other games they demonstrated. The Kinect sports looked as fun or more than Wii sports and it seemed to be responsive enough. The fitness game looked as if it had about a half second delay, could be the big screen video display was slightly delayed though. I'll wait till they have display kiosks in the stores till I judge that facet.
The only thing that I see as a big issue will be price. If it comes out under a hundred bucks with the sports game as a pack-in, I think it'll sell pretty decent. If it comes out at $150, then I think it's gonna sell really poorly. We'll see. I think it's a very cool concept, though, and the demo fleshed out all the details as to how it'll work for menus without a controller or remote. It looked very cool to me.
But the little girl and her Tiger kinda creeped me out, honestly.

Believe me, people that get into online play, especially with FPS, happily spend that fee(I don't understand how people can have fun playing a FPS for 3 or more hours in a session, but anyway a ton of people do), so they are getting much more to begin with, then the PS3 even has to offer.
Back on topic: Like I said, Natel is just gonna be ignored anyway, because 360 supporters aren't dumb enough to buy into such crap
PS. I'm possitive Sony fanboys will pay that insane $100 for the PS move though(that is no doubt going to be pretty crappy as well, not as bad as Natel sure, but still, shiny crap, is still crap).
I'll step in for 17days on this one.
Wireless 360 Controllers: 5 bucks cheaper than Sony's, but if you want rechargeable batteries, the price goes up to $65.
Wifi: Included on the PS3 from launch, $100 bucks extra if you wanna go the 1st party route with Microsoft. Obviously only applies to old models of the 360 and not the new ones.
Harddrives: Sony will let you throw in practically ANY laptop harddrive into your console, while Microsoft will charge you $130 bucks for 120 gb's of space. That might not sound shitty until you realize you can throw a 500 gb hdd in your PS3 for under $100.
There are other things Microsoft charges more for less, but you should get the gist of it.
In MS's defense this new 360 is quite a step forward, basically to me this is what the 360 should have been this whole time. If this was the 360 on the market 2 years ago when I was on the fence between the PS3 and 360, I would have had one hell of a time choosing.
